I dont eat veggies or beans so mexican is usually a tough go for me.. but if I can find something thats just meat N cheese N bread on a menu then i do dig the spice!

since I'll have the rent-a-car I can meet wherever and just not drink alcohol

I feel like this is my fault you already know I'm nearby, if you need the bus grabbed and moved before you get in, im pming my number, my work is >1mile and theres plenty of room there. also, lots of tools and whatnot but I honestly think you are good to go on this bus. I get off work at 10pm.

hey thanks for the offer.. I should be able to get it and the homewood suites im stayiung at has a large lot so i can park it there.. ive got my temp tag already.

as for service I may be a bit gunshy since my current bus broke down 450 miles into my trip..

from your analysis and the vid online and what others say, this district is good with their busses .. you work 2nd, we might have to grab a late breakfast or such, would be cool to meet ya!, or iof we all gather late evening..

sounds like the only thing I have to bring is a can of RAID.. since you said there were spider webs lolol...

im looking forward to this trip. gonna be fun.

i suppose i should bring a roll of blue tape and tape over the "SCHOOL BUS" words..

I'm in for a meetup Monday eve for dinner. I'll eat anything so anywhere will be fine with me. I don't recall seeing the date in the previous posts. When dates do you plan on being here?

I'll txt you my cell number Christopher. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

im leaving tomorrow (sunday the 24th) and driving ascross from florida to houston.. im in st pete so its like a 950 mile drive.. if I get sleepy i'll stop for a hotel and then be in houston monday afternoon later... get the bus tuesday and probably stay till weds...

ifI get the bus monday I could leave on tuesday.. if people want to meet up at different times or on tuesday insteasd or in addition then i can stay till weds...my hotel is booked through weds morning.. im hilton diamond so i can shorten or extend without penalty..

its all short notice since these auction things dont give you long to get the busses out of there and they dont like to bend... when I called friday the lady was nice but firm.

I can work from anywhere so I dont have a real close time I have to leave... anywhere ive got a macbook pro and the internet... I wont have my mobile DEV lab since thats in the carpenter bus(DEV RAMDOM), I picked a good time for this as im in the code-out stage for 2 projects and wont go into lab stage for a week or so yet..

the new bus will probably get driven to florida (to BGA) for painting since I dont have the tools, equipment, knowledge, or proper space to paint a bus...

I know i'll hear flack for taking it to a dealer for paint but hey a man's gotta do what he gotta do.. prices at a commercial truck shop are 3X what they charge.. ive called around.. most body shops these days are only cars and only collision. not restore work.

however im oipen to other suggestions for getting it painted.. ( i need someone who can do it all.. prep it , mask it, paint it.. ) fortunately texas allows me to get 3 temp tags for a total of 90 days of tags.. once thats uo it has to have been painted, school lights removed or covered, and driven to ohio... where i can get it inspected (which means a guy climbs inside and says "yep the vin matches the title") and tagged...

then i'll likelyt put it up for the winter.. and in spring I can start on the project i have in mind for it.!

Hey all,

Sorry to be the last to the party. I'm getting ready to drive to Galveston today for my usual Sunday run. I'll be off this afternoon. Let me know what the plans are for Monday evening. I'm good for dinner wherever. I know of several good Chinese buffets in Cy-Fair. I figure that should cover everyone's wants for food. Prices are respectable as well.

CaddyKid, I PMed my phone number to you. Let me know the plans once you get here.

welcome to the party M10!!

im not huge on chinese.. ( I dont eat veggies).. but if said chinese buffet has american style food on the tower im good with it..

im picking up the rental in a few hours and hitting the road.. depending on I-10 traffic I should end up in Houston somewhere in the morning hopefully..

here's hoping the nice lady will let me get the bus out tomorrow, then i'll hit the Hotel, relax for a bit then be ready to rock!!

advantage of the bus being picked up that you guys can all look over it with me and tell me either "Dude! WTF did you just buy??" or "rockin bus!!"...

my first experience with an auction.. I think the get together sounds like reason enough for a fun trip even if the bus is a bust!!

I think you'll be more proud of that auction bus than the dealer sourced one.

Drive safe, Chris.

I look forward to meeting you guys. If it's dinner, I'll need a little time to get there, so a heads up would be appreciated. I may even head that way in the afternoon b-4 traffic hits. Are there still any old fashioned cafes left out 290? I'm trying to think of the travelers appetite.
