If anyone wants to go the VT way our YouTube and our website both have step by step, block by block, instructions on how we did our VT paperwork at the end of Feb or first part of March 2021. It was a bit intimidating and a little scary wondering if we did things right so we put it on our blog and youtube. Pretty sure you can find both of those in our profile.

Thanks so much for taking the time to do the YouTube video! My husband and I were also feeling intimidated by the process. Your video was a big help! It saved us lots of time.

Don't forget the moment you mail the registration paperwork to VT DMV, you can pay $6 online and get a temp registration to be able to operate your bus while you wait for your tags.

I received the Vermont title for my 2007 Chevy Midbus (Short bus based on a 2007 chevy express chassis) and I think they did something weird. I filled out the forms exactly as listed here.
Previous title showed:
Year: 2007 | Make of vehicle: MIDB | Model: *blank* | Body Style: BU
New Vermont title shows:
Year: 2007 | Make of vehicle: CHEV | Model: EXP | Body/Hull: YY
Anyone know what this means?

Yeah, "YY" is a typo, a few people report getting that. It stands for "yyou need to call them and report the mistake and they'll mail you out a new title".

It must be a virus. I just got my title and registration today and they were both wrong. I requested a motorhome registration and title and they both came back as bus. I have an email address for them, asked them to correct it.

Another success story! After much deliberation and procrastination, we mailed our paperwork on August 17 to the Vermont DMV following the OPs directions to the tee. The check was cashed on September 10, and the plates arrived on September 21. We included a handwritten description of what we are doing. I don't know if that helped or not but we did it.

I'd really like to say yes, but I don't. If you've ever seen Fawlty Towers, a British comedy from the 70's starring John Cleese from Monty Python, at the beginning of the show they show an outdoor sign for Fawlty Towers. The letters were always re-arranged to spell something odd. On one episode they spelled Farty Owls. That's it lol.

I cannot believe I didn't spot that. If your username was "FloweryTwats" I would have picked it out immediately. YOU PUT BASIL IN THE RATATOUILLE!?!?

Oh yes, I saw the first episode once, but it made want to shoot the TV. What I was really hoping you'd say is that you own not one, but two owls that fart.

Same here, I was incredibly frustrated as I wrote a detailed letter explaining everything with all the fees and breakdown.... they even returned the $35 title fee, so it's not like they didn't see it.

They told me by email to return the title (not the registration) and they would correct it and send me a new title. After all, they did accept the motorhome fee. The bus registration fee is completely different. Now I am just waiting for the process to work itself out.

Please direct me to the post or thread, I'm pretty sure this has been covered but I can't find it.
My unconverted bus has a temporary VT motorhome registration. I resubmitted my paperwork after painting primer on enough of it so it isn't "school bus yellow", and I am expecting the VT plates in a few weeks.
I moved to CT from NY. My Allstate policy will expire 12/1/2021 (and I'm super careful driving, since it states it needed to be registered in NY). Calling around to insurance companies, I was told if it is registered in VT, it has to be insured in VT.
I'm willing to transfer the registration to CT. Will I have to show that it is minimally converted to the CT DMV? I know someone on the forum registered in CT, I just can't find the post.
Many thanks, as always for your collective wisdom and patience!

The bus can be registered anywhere, but generally it has to be insured in the state where it is habitually parked.
