Don't lie to your agent. It won't do you any good and if they catch you they can drop you. Progressive will get you going for commercial insurance to the tune of about $700/year. Once you get it converted State Farm should cover it as a motor home but you'll need to provide pics.

Do they give you a title as well as a registration or just the registration?

Just got my bus and trying to figure out the best way forward.

Thanks
If you have a MCO, original title or VIN Verification plus the Bill of Sale, fill out the application and add $35 plus request a title, you will receive a title. If you don't have the original title you need a VIN verification.

SC doesn't offer a VIN verification so I was only able to get tags. It seems when I got my tags the registration card (which is your processed application I believe) they verified the VIN so I may try to get a title through them too. Worth a shot for an additional $35.

Let me know how that works out. What is an MCO? I have an Arizona title and bill of sale and temp registration (perks of buying from a dealer). I am hoping I can send all to Vermont and get a title and reg that says MH so I can at some point go to Nevada DMV and be home registered. 2martins had good luck with this route and her bus was titled MH in Oregon.

The title I have now says BUS and the VIN of course comes up that way. Curious to see how you come out please keep updated.

Thanks

So I think I found my dream bus, and my dream guy, but he doesn't come with the bus. He said it is ready to be registered in state as a motor home but was not yet registered. I was initially planning on going the VT route to register it, but if I can actually register it in state a a motorhome e is there any advantage of sending everything to VT? I plan on leaving the state by early fall and don't know if I'll be back within the year so I would like to either be able to renew from out of state or be able to register her in a new state as an RV. I think it would be less expensive to register the bus here but if that makes renewing registration out of state more difficult I would rather go with VT.

I think with a title you won't have a problem registering it anywhere. What ever state you end up in may require you to have a local resident address.

Question regarding "handwritten note itemizing your costs"

Does this "handwritten note itemizing your costs" refer to the tax and registration fee?

It worrrkkeeddd!! BUT ...inspection??

I got my plates!! Registered successfully as a motor home !! But ! The envelope says i have to get it inspected by Vermont within 15 days...we happen to be going to Vermont at the end ofaugust for a gathering....but not within 15 days... and I’m nervous to have PA inspect it since it has Vermont plates...and pa needs so many requirements for inspection .
Anyone else run into this issue???

I would go to Vermont.

But that requirement seems to go against tge whole reason for this thread.

Has that ever happened to anyone else?

Any ideas why required here?

Always required but an out of state cop will never ticket you for a Vermont inspection. If you want to drive it in Vermont, get it inspected. Otherwise dont sweat it.

They may cancel your registration if they don't get the verification in a timely manor.

10+ years registering vehicles in Vermont and I've never had an issue.

Good to know.

Ever find out what happens when someone presents for their first inspection at VT DMV after having been driving around for years out of state?

Vermont registrat ??

Hi all,
I got my registration yesterday, but I'm assuming it's wrong?
I went through all the steps, very carefully.

But when it came back it shows BU under body type. And not MH

I put Motorhome on the application and 19 for the plate type
and MH under Body Type.

Just want to make sure that's not right, as I'm thinking before I call them.

Thanks!

We are actually visiting Vermont in a few weeks for only a few weeks....but idk what to do about inspection . We aren’t staying there and will be traveling west soon after.

Also running into insurance issues. But I’m figuring it out

Do you already have yours licensed?
If so it sounds like you'd need inspection to go to vermont.
If not, then you don't. I live in Arizona and don't plan on going anytime soon
