Congrats on passing the inspection! We are making good progress on ours and hope to schedule one soon.

Hopefully our example puts you at ease a bit. I think provided one has _places_ for all this infrastructure, and took care of all the "bus features" (color, flashers, signs, etc), that's enough. It can't be a "bus" without any bus features.

Insurance is a higher bar to clear. Idk if you guys have done that yet. Nobody I've talked to will insure while the build is in progress. If I can "finish" the major stuff and present pictures showing within reason that the build is done, I think that will be enough.

Yes, congrats on the inspection completion.
Did they issue a new VIN decal? Assuming title change from bus to RV as well. Salvage title or clear?

Not at the inspection site. We'll see what happens in a couple weeks when I register.
I don't have a title yet, it isn't going to be salvage however. NH may not issue a title for a vehicle of this age.

If you got a title when you bought it, you can get a NH title if you want one. If it is 1999 or older, you are correct, no title required.
I just got my title for mine, (1990), because I wanted it. It came with it's NC title, which I surrendered for a new NH title.
It potentially becomes a positive selling point if/when it comes time to sell.

It also could expedite an out of state sale, even though prior registration paper is sufficient in most intrastate sales. Some out of state buyers will not even consider a purchase without a valid title...

I definitely want one, this is good info. How did you obtain yours?

My bus was sold with a North Carolina title, where it came from.
If you didn't get a title when you bought your bus, it will be more difficult to get one.
Not really sure how one would go about getting one without having a title from the purchase.

I'd start with DMV online. Town clerk could also help?

As I understand it, Vt will not issue a title on anything older than a 2000, whether you have a title or not. I specifically did not send my title as I knew I would be title less after that. My Ga. title is still good as the registration and title are not tied together. I'm curious also on how Pete got one and when?

Pete was talking about NH. Generally they will not issue a title for anything older than 2000. We had to go through a few hoops to get one for a 1924 vehicle we own, but they did issue one.

Thought I was in the Vt. thread, not the NH one. But he said NH has basically the same rule, so how did it get skirted?

No problem. We had to fill out the title app and highlighted the line that said we were requesting a title for a vehicle older than 2000. It got kicked back. I had to call the state and got the name of one of the clerks at the DMV in Concord and mailed it to her. I think that was it, but then again, with all the issues with the bus and the DMV I can't recall if there was another round of calls or not. Either way, they finally issued us a title for our 95 year old car.

Even though I'm close to VT geographically, NH is another world when it comes to vehicle registrations.

Anyhoo, I got a NC Title when I bought my bus in NC. It was signed over to me in the appropriate spaces on back, by the school administrator.
I had a choice when I registered my bus to spend the extra coin and get a new, NH title in my name or not.
I could have simply registered my bus without processing the NC title into a NH title, but I wanted a title for reasons previously detailed above.

Long story, please bear with me: As this is written, there is no provision in NH to initially register any motor vehicle by mail. Presumably to avoid fraudulent vehicle transfers and for proper distribution of funds in the vehicle transfer, and registration process.

To register a new to you vehicle in NH one must present one of the following:
A) A title app from a car dealer
B) A properly executed title from the previous owner
C) A bill of sale for any vehicle 1999 and older
Along with one's driver license, to a town clerk in whatever town one resides in. Then plates are issued, unless the type of plate is unavailable at the local town hall.
Antique, walking disability, any initial plates, are examples of DMV only plates for 1st time registration. For those type plates one must take the paperwork from town hall to any state DMV for further processing.

Re-registration is easier, once the plates are already processed to you and your vehicle. All one has to do is go to town hall and pay$$ annually in the month of your birth.
We're on the cusp of re-reging' online, but my town isn't there yet.

Definitely not as easy as Vermont!!!

I do have this, and both the town clerk and DMV office have copies already.

Tomorrow AM, I'll give this a shot (Windham Town Hall). Let you all know what happens.

Make sure to mention to them that you want the previous title processed for a new one in your name, when you go to register tomorrow. The old to new title takes awhile to work their way through the system, & they'll mail you a new one in a few weeks.

When I went to register mine my town clerk assumed that I didn't care about having a title, as she handed back the NC title to me after filling in the info on her computer. I had to specifically request a new title as well.
Good luck!

Well folks, here we are. I have a new title on its way, I got my motorhome registration and plates! Its almost hard to believe. Standing in line at the clerk's office I kept thinking that there had to be more I needed- nope, all I needed was the vehicle identification slip.

Next up is the vehicle inspection, and I need to figure out the threshold for insurance. Maybe I'll ring up my mechanic to see if they'll can get me a sticker.

Was just gonna grab some free local $hit to keep it from going to waste. I would have stored them and offered them back into the community. No biggie.

My dearly departed mother often advised a certain impatient little boy, "Good things are worth the wait."
Well, I'm still prone to impatience, but you decidedly have a good thing to take that lap in!
Congrats, and well done. [emoji106]

It might just be me, but a two-week victory lap seems either very excessive,
Or reeeeee-eally slow...
