NguyenBus:
Did you go through a broker or American Family directly? Can you give me a contact name? Is your bus fully converted with all the fancy stuff or partial? Did you have to show photos? Thank you!

I've read more threads about insurance here than I can shake a finger at.
Are you all trying to get full coverage? That might be a problem right there.
Try calling and asking about liability only. The bare minimum that the state allows.
Do your conversion, then ask about full coverage after you get titled as an RV. Or not. I would probably only keep liability, and not worry about the comp and collision coverage.

Yes, liability only was all I was trying to get, ElizaHasAPlan. Apparently the rules of the game have changed as of very very recently. One insurance broker told me that Progressive has changed their under-writing rules regarding skoolies as of Aug 1st 2015, for example.
Anyway, it is sorted out. Bus is insured with a commercial policy with business type as none / personal use.

Any specific advice on what language to use? I'm supposed to be picking our bus up today and have been told no by Gieco and a broker...
Did you do it online or speak with an agent? I just don't want to screw up our only chance with AFI...Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks to everyone on this thread. Last year I had my bus insured with no problem through Esurance and now they no longer can offer that to me. I am waiting to hear back from 2 of the mentioned companies on this thread. SO thanks for the help!

I have had three buses insured in Washington with State Farm.
I have all of my auto, home and life with them as well. I think that may make a difference.
They wrote "commercial vehicle for personal use" once I had the seats out. They require a full conversion before insuring as an RV.

I have many things covered with State Farm but they wouldn't cover my bus even when I threatened to take my account elsewhere. I finally did get liability only though www.AISinsurance.com for I think $300 a year.

UPDATE: CAMI can't get us insurance no-mo so don't bother calling, and chrissy if you see this, take her info down please.
Best bet in WA (unless you already bundle home/auto/umbrella) is to get a Commercial as personal- liability coverage, or atleast thats what ive found after a few hours of calling, good luck
