Ny insurance and temp tags

Hey guys
Me and my wife been wanting to do a bus conversion for awhile now but we knew it would be complicated living in NY so we did tons of research first
We are the proud owners of a 91 international 3700 handy bird bus
We bought the bus 3 hours away from home 200 miles further north towards buffalo
We quickly called all kinds of insurance agencies
The only one willing to help was good Sam and it was over 500$ to start a plan
I got a few shipping quotes that we're about 800-1000$ depending on carriers
All kind of far out just to get our bus home
I went to my local insurance agent I been with for years and showed him the title and told him what I wanted to do he hooked me up with a binder on my casualty and property insurance for temp insurance on the bus
Then I went to SEVERAL DMVs saying they cannot issue a temp tag to move it within ny
Then they told me they cannot issue it cause the bus was yellow
Finally I called the Monticello dmv office who are fimilar on temp tags for INTRASTATE transit permit they told me to change the color cause the bus is yellow and blue and then they helped us fill out the papers we paid our sales tax and got the title in our name and they gave us our transit permit

So needless to say if your in NY and feeling like it can't happen it can u just have to be vigilant and talk to knowledgeable people better to call around and ask and see if someone knows what there talking about

Just drive it home!!!!!!! No one has ever been pulled over bringing home their new bus. Just make sure it is insured. I'd rather pay a ticket than go through some of the hoops some states make you jump through.
