Registration & smog California -Nevada -California

Looking at buying a 98 Blue Bird transit bus with 8.3 Cumming that was apparently originally registered in Ca. then a private party registered it in Nevada.
Do i need to be concerned with re-registering it back in Ca. ?

Yes! You should. Out of state 1998 and newer need new smog certificates, need to meet CARB and smog before registering. In addition you would need to insure it has a little plate on the engine that says it's CA compliant.

So update it was never registered in NV. It was put on PNO in California since 2013 no back fees ! DMV on phone told me all i need is a one day moving permit and keep it on PNO until i can have it inspected by the DMV as a "habitable quarters" (no details on what that means) This is looking like it may be a reality ! Excited but still need to actually go to the DMV for the permit and see what they say and if they will issue the permit to drive it back the 4-5hours.
