Hey man, i am in upstate too! I went to my local dmv and they would not do anything for me! Said i have to send everything to head office in columbia for aprovan. Did you have to send it there as well and thats what took 8 weeks? Just curious, we are in greenville. Thanks for any advice ! Cheers

You are ahead of me. All I have done so far is transfer the title into my name. My next step was to finish the conversion and then start doing whats needed to get it classified as a RV. Was you able to get your bus classified as a rv?

It doesn't even have to be titled as an RV to be driven without a CDL in NC. Its just weight and number of passengers it can carry.

I'm in Durham NC with a bus that we've gutted and transformed but we haven't registered it b/c....well, b/c we thought it was a big, ole deal. Ours is GVWR 11,566. Is that too big? Just trying to figure out the best route to get her out on the road! Am also curious as to what you need to do to the exterior to make it 'okay.' Just take off the words 'school bus?'
