Short Bus in Ontario

Hello guys

New to the site. Have a few questions about registration and insurance. I have a 2000 GMC short bus that I've been modifying. Probably should have looked into proper registration before I spent money, but here we are.

I don't necessarily want the bus to be an RV. Mainly just a "party" bus/ road trip bus. Plan is to have a fridge and removable bbq in it. Any tips on what it can be registered as?

Currently there are no seats in it. Plan is to put different ones in once the floor is repaired and its running nice.

If it's a van chassis short bus then you should be able to take out most of the seats and register it as a normal utility van, I would think. I say take out most of the seats because otherwise it has the potential to be used as a commercial passenger transport vehicle. To register it as such will cost you a good chunk of change.

I saw hoping the same thing. I'm going to go to Service Ontario on Thursday (open late) to see how that works. It's technically a savana 3500 that I have converted to single rear wheel suspension (2500)

Honestly, I wouldn't tell them about the conversion over to singles. It'll just invite them to probe around and possibly ask for more paperwork and/or pictures. There's nothing wrong with registering a Savana 3500 as a personal passenger vehicle as it is.

It seems like you know what you're doing, but did you check the weight rating of the singles against the weight of the vehicle?

Went to "single" suspension to fit after market dually wheels. Basically it was to alter the track width. Very common modification to the 3500 trucks. Once I get it registered I'll post pics. I'm sure some people will love it and others will thing I have money to burn.
