State Inspections

Does anyone live in a state where your car must be expected for emissions/road worthieness? Did you have to have the bus inspected? How did it go?

state inspection

I live in Virginia. Upon converting the Willow bus I had to change its status from a bus to a MTH (Motor Home). The Virginia DOT had an inspector come to my home and check it out. He first checked the VIN I D number inside the bus against the one on the firewall outside and to my suprize a hidden VIN inside the frame of the bus. he checked that the seats were removed and thats about it.

I then had to have a state inspection sticker and that was a little scarey, they checked the breaks and every light had to work, he checked the play in the stering and everything.

My state has no such laws yet. Not even an annual safety inspection is required on cars. They did away with it about 5 years ago.

My bus didn't have a seatbelt when I got it either, I'm not sure if it ever had one. I think vehicles over 30 years old are exempt from that law anyway. Besides I doubt they would even think to be looking if you had been wearing a seatbelt, everything in the bus would be a distraction.
