WA Registration

I send the Dmv email for register a 2003 40ft school bus converting to rv and respond:

You can register the bus as a RV but converting a school bus into an RV will still require a CDL, unless all of the seats (except the driver seat) are removed (not replaced) and the weight of the bus is under 26,001 lbs. A bus cannot be reclassified as an RV to eliminate the need for a CDL. In addition, depending on the use of the bus, you may still need a passenger endorsement.

I don't understand. Just register the Bus as RV and that be it. I just want the easy and less trouble. Thank You

Yeah I took in my bus title and the conversation went like this:
Me: I would like to transfer title and register it as a motor home.
Agent: Ok. Is your bus still yellow?
Me: Yes
Agent: Are you going to leave it yellow?
Me: No I am going to be painting it blue and grey.
Agent: Ok that will be $xxx.

I walked out with my new registration and license plates. Received my new title for a blue and grey motor home in the mail about three weeks later.

At that time I had not done anything at all to the bus. Still had all the seats and everything. Agent did not ask nor care about it being converted or not.

Mine have gone pretty much the same except that they did not ask about color. Also, I had to sign an "affidavit of conversion".

Some DOL agents are really sharp folks. Bright, well informed and a pleasure to work with. Unfortunately some are not....

I have titled two in the last 6 months and it has been a breeze.

Hey Mike,

I used the one in Snohomish. They are REALLY nice folks and easy to work with.

You are in Arlington? I am just outside of Granite Falls. Neighbors
