What is the 411 on insurance for California?

I have read dozens of threads about insurance in California and now my head hurts more than it did when I started.

Is it stricter now or easier that was a few years ago?

What companies are writing skoolies converted into RVs?

Are people choosing to register as a commercial vehicle for private use or what?

Texas aka Tiny Big Bus is going to be resurrected from the California Central Valley.

What’s the GVWR of your bus? If it’s diesel and >14000 then you need to title as a MH.

If you need to change title you may want to use a private vehicle inspector to do it. I was quoted $125 to do it.

This part I know. Have converted a 97 International into a motorhome title. But that was many years ago and I don't know if things have changed.

Also I believe that number is 14,050 #. Not nitpicking but mysteriously that is in number on a Ford E450 chassis

My 5 window Thomas is 12500. I think the 6 window midbus is just at 14000.

I posted that the over 14k was correct. For some reason my post is not here. They did change it from 14050#.

Do you have someone for private Vin verification?

No. In the end I ended up with a cutaway <14000 so the transaction was simpler. I talked to a vehicle registration guy about it and what was required to justify title change. He would come to me to do it and charge $125.
