Colorado Meetup #2 :)

it was lots of fun last year! lets do it again!

i am open to dates and ideas. i want to avoid holidays.

How about kicking off summer with a June 4-5 get together?

for a location, i'd say Mesa Verde?

anyone interested??

I'm open for suggestions!!

I think we would be up for something in June. Not sure about Mesa Verde though. Last time we were there it was very crowded and the traffic was bad to get to the various interesting sites, so it would not be fun to drive a bus around to look at things. At that time they did not have shuttles and I don't know if they have them now are not. I will look around and see if I can find some interesting alternatives and it would be nice if we can get more people involved.

I have been looking at Trinidad Lake State Park. They have hookups for RVs that want to use them and it looks like there are interesting things to do and look at in the area. It is not very far from civilization but there is some hiking there too. It is a little over 2 hours drive from Colorado Springs and 3 hours from Denver, and unfortunately a long way for Turf to drive (although not as far as Mesa Verde). I could not find any ATV trails near there but I currently do not have an ATV so a may not know where to look. Let me know what you think, I am still looking for other spots also.

Ya I am ready for the snow to go away also, in fact I intended to go there this week and check it out, I had to cancel because of the storm. However, I have talked to people who have camped there and they strongly recommended it. My suggestion for Colorado meetup #2 would be Trinidad Lake State Park on the weekend starting on June 10 through June 12. I hope we can get input from other skoolies in Colorado and hopefully some people and their buses can make the trip to Southern Colorado for a get together.

The second annual Colorado Skoolie meetup is underway! Colorado Skoolies come on down to Trinidad State Park for our Skoolie meet and greet. Last year we met in the northern part of Colorado, this year we will meet in the southern foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains. So far we have two members of this site that will be present and we invite all of the other skoolies from Colorado to come down and join us. There is a beautiful lake and lots of hiking and lots of bus talking going on down here. From Colorado Springs it is an easy 2 hour drive to Trinidad and from Denver it is a 3 hour drive. We had a great time last year and we hope a lot of Colorado Skoolies join us this year. The camping spots are going fast so if you want to join us you had better reserve your spot online in a hurry. Go to Trinidad State Park on Google and you will be able to reserve a spot.

Come on down to Trinidad Lake State park this weekend, no matter what state your bus is in. We will have a great time. We had a great time up north near Sterling last year and it will be a lot of fun this year too.

I think we will try to come down on Saturday just to say hi. We are in Salida.
We will not bring our bus , we are just starting and have only a drivers seat at this time. Will be in a sprinter.

That is great if you can make down. We love to talk bus, it doesn't really matter if you have the bus with you.

I forgot to give the information about how to find us. We are at Trinidad Lake State Park from June 10-12 in the Carpios Campground. Our spot is #30 and Turf has #32. If you are coming just for the day you will only have the day fee to pay, if you are going to camp in tents you might have to camp in a different section of the campground and walk over to our sites.
