In Colorado Picking up Bus #2

Some friends, eager for adventure and ready for a road trip, offered to give me a ride out from my Wisconsin home turf, to Lamar Colorado to pick up the second of two buses that I purchased recently. Airfares from Milwaukee to Denver are crazy cheap right now. I could’ve purchased a one-way ticket for $20 and the bus ride from Denver on to Lamar, for another $35. That all sounds good, but there’s always the additional hassle and expense of parking your car at the airport and then retrieving it later. I also wanted to bring along some tools and extra supplies that would’ve been difficult to lug around. So I accepted their offer and now I find myself in Colorado after a beautiful moonlight drive across the High Prairie. On Monday morning I will retrieve my second bus, check it out, top off the fluids, install a CB radio and my temporary plate, and be on my way.

The A/C does not work in either of the buses. I suspect that there is a lot of potential for leaks in a big system with multiple evaporators stretched out over 30 feet. Some new seals and a fresh charge of R-134 should get them back to functioning again.
