I would like one location where we can all see everyone's bus, but I don't think it's feasible. I think finding two locations that are central to to each half of the country would be the best for everybody. I already know that I have to travel because I'm coming from PROK (People's Republik of Kalifornia). I just don't want to drive 2000 miles. My 1 1/2 cents.
well then we should be planning 3 gatherings, 2 in the states and 1 in Canada. And if they are on different weekends I'll make it to all 3

Then we need 4.

one on each side of the country one in Canada and one in between for those who dare to do all of them. Ha ha

Re: Lets start planning a gathering for 2008!

ah they let you across no problem. Just make sure to bring some extra cash since the fuel prices up here are a bit hire then yours, and with your weak $$$$$ its gonna cost you even more. 1 US$ only gives you 93 C cents right now.
Diesel is around the 1$ C mark so about 1.07 for you per litre (4.17 Gallon)

I don't know, diesel this morning was $3.39 a gallon. It almost broke the bank filling up the car. I can't wait til I have to fuel up the bus again.

I'm in for that one! (I'm 30 miles west of Indianapolis)

BTW, anybody heard from ZenKen, he's got some property in rural MO somewhere where we discussed a gathering a while back?

I'd be in for Lake of the Ozarks, beautiful country there!

I could go with Lake of the Ozarks as well! Some of the Ozarks are a lot steeper than the Rockies though. The climbs just aren't as long.

Re: Lets start planning a gathering for 2008!

Looks like a nice place and it's only 2000 miles from me. I will try to make it. Who knows, it might actually happen. Don't do it too close to burning man, I want to go next year.

I think you would probably use it as an excuse to fly in and buy another bus just because it was a good deal.

Re: Lets start planning a gathering for 2008!

I have a question for anyone familiar with Lake of the Ozarks. I was there years ago and there was a place on the halfway point of the lake called "Big Dicks Halfway Inn" Is it still called that?

Ozarks are a good central location. I would love to go there.

Re: Lets start planning a gathering for 2008!

now a good date is in order

I think week or 2 after burning man (laborday)
That way all the folks coming from BM can slip in on the way home.

I like that idea.

So I tried to mapquest the mileage from my house to "the Ozarks" but that's not really a town... is Branson close to where we're thinking?

I can't commit to anything yet, but I'd very much like to go.
