Re: Out In The Bus

I have a Jeep Wrangler I would love to tow...but...the Crown rear end is all trunk space. The main frame does not go back all the way to the bumper, thus, it will require a speacilized hitch. The lowest of the quotes I got for it was about $1,600...have to save up for that. In the meantime, the bikes do just fine. I usually don't go too far out in the wild, so I cna walk or ride my bike for things I run out of, which is usually beer, while I out, or like you said, public transit.

Re: Out In The Bus

Went out to the Orange Grove RV for New Year. It's only about 10 miles from the house, so a cheap get-away and my "children" don't tolerate the noise of New Year very well, so they got to relax too Was good to get the bus out on the road.

My "kids" taking their nap...Venus, TC, Bob, & Sara Lee

The view across the road from the park

Off to Sacramento next weekend for a meeting, so the Crown will really have a chance to strech ist legs on a 600 mile trip. We're both ready to go!

Re: Out In The Bus

I am formerly a past State President for the California Association of School Transportation Officials (CASTO). When we had our conference in Ontario, CA in 2008, the BC had just come out of the paint shop. The person I had asked to be a Keynote at that Conference that year was Jackie Mayer, Miss America for 1963. Jackie had it all when she was crowned, but suffered a massive stroke seven years later in 1970. She had to learn, among other challenges, how to speak again. She tours the country now as a motivational speaker. I don't think I've met such a nice person in a long time. I enjoyed meeting her and having her speak to our conference.

At the time, I asked her if she would give me the honor and "christen" the Brown Crown for me...without hesitation, she was ready to go. Here we are pictured with our Champagne and getting ready to go out for the evening banquet. Look her up on the web, a truly inspiring individual. We are about ready to have our next conference in San Diego and I was thinking of her today.

Bansil, that nice gold bumper got a good whack, but the bottle wouldn't break, so we just opened it and poured it all over the front...still have that bottle today

You know that if the bottle doesn't break it's bad luck. It's a crime to waste good booze anyway.

Re: Out In The Bus

Just some pics of last weekend's trip out to the Orange Grove. Had a good time, met some really nice RV'ers, park was really full, and lot's of beer. Not a very exotic destination, but always nice to drive the bus and enjoy the results of the conversion work.

Very cool!

BC, are you still carrying your bicycle? If so, where at?

Ryan, my bike rack project didn't work out the way I wanted it to, so I just continue to haul the bikes in the cabin of the bus for now.

Re: Out In The Bus

The BC at the recent So. California School Bus Roadeo site in the high desert area of Apple Valley, CA. This was held at Apple Valley High School...they let me park there overnight. Hot during the day, but an nice breeze at night and a good time out with the Crown.

Re: Out In The Bus

These pics are of the KOA in Sacramento where I stayed on June 7th. It's a nice campground if you need a place to stay in this area. I have to go to Sacramento about four times a year for meetings, and I always stay here...and boy was it hot...103 on Friday and 108 on Satuday!
