Monday it's off to Lost Dutchman SP near Apache Junc. AZ. 3 nights, no hookups.
This one of our fav. places and the inspiration for the mural on 2K4S.

Short run about 230 miles but lots of climbing to get home.

That paint job is very attractive. Most self done paint jobs looks kind of hippy in nature but yours looks nice.

I was wondering if you changed the configuration on your bus windows or you selected something different? It looks like regular bus windows but one window appears to be tipped out at the bottom. Is that a hinged bus window, or just a window of a similar size?

Thanks, there are 2 windows with screens, maybe that's what you're seeing.

That's probably it. In the photo it appeared to my blurry eyes that the top half of your bus window was swung out at the bottom. I'm getting to where I'd really like the idea of some bug screens. A couple warm days and the yellow jackets were already coming in the top hatch, not to mention waking up in the morning to find mosquito bites on my noggin.

This build is a process, kind of like trying to stamp out a forest fire with your feet.

Home from a very nice campout. No pics, this is one of our fav. places so lots of previous ones.

No hookups and the Plannar heater and the Pinnella gen. fuel kit worked perfectly. Enough sun for the solar panels even though it was quite cloudy.

Does your planar have a thermostat on it to control the heat or is it a manual turn on/off unit? I've been struggling with deciding on that or a webasto. Would like the planar bc I can get a bigger unit for a smaller price but don't want it running constantly if it doesn't.

Yes, our Plannar 44D does have a thermostat. It reads in C but that's easy to decipher.
I really like it but also hope it never needs service. Sips fuel, quiet and no smell.

good to hear about your planar heater!!

1 tip for them, dont use them at altitude. i have fouled mine out and need to disassemble it to see if i can fix it. like you said.. no service available.

over 5-6000ft, they run way too much fuel and just smoke like a scene from cheech and chong movie.

i loved my planar until i took it camping in the mountains around 8-9000ft. its now fouled out and smokes the cabin.

both webasto and espar brands have some altitude compensation. one (espar) uses a separate smaller fuel pump, and the other one (webasto) reduces the flow via a microchip.

i emailed the planar guy and he said there is no adjustment for it or parts. I'm gonna try and and clean and fix mine this summer. i may try the espar fuel pump too if i can get this to work again.

Doing the conversion from C to F isn't an issue for me, I just want to know if I set the thermostat at 30 degrees C, will it throttle down and shutoff when it reaches the set temp, and, will it kick on when it gets below that set temp.

I was looking at the 8D 12V heater due to having such a big bus and wanting to run ducting for several vents throughout. Is yours ducted with more than what came with the kit?

Yes, the thermostat throttles it down to very low idle and resumes as needed. The Planar is like a tiny jet engine, never shuts off when temp is reached but slows way down, barely noticeable. when it's off, it's off.

I mounted the heater under the front steps at the top step level (lots of room) and ran a short 4in. dia. duct into the bus. Mine came with no ducting.
Combustion air and fresh air are drawn from the outside and exhaust out the front under the bumper so no mixing of air in and exh.

12v draw is very low.
