Virginia Tech to Glacier National Park

Hello all
In the planning stages for a 21 day 5000 mile round trip adventure. Looking for any suggestions on good places to visit along the way and stay the night. Hikes and hot rod shows are always welcomed suggestions. Planning on driving no more than 8hr days.

Montana is full of fun places to go.

my favorite - is a place called gem mountain, near phillipsurg. you can mine your own saffires and have them made into jewelery.

fyi, double check the vehicle size limitsz of glacier. i know they won't allow a 40' bus. i dont think they allow my 30' bus. you may have to rent a car or do the tourist tour.

have fun!

IDK about getting a bus to the trail head, but I'd visit St Mary's Glacier in Colorado.

Vehicle size limits for the Going To The Sun Road are 21 feet long and 10 feet high... Rent a car for the day to drive it. It is a must-see if in Glacier. This summer will be my 6th season working up there and driving the road still gives me goose bumps!

if you end up in Utah be sure to visit Arches national park!!. Corvette museum in. bowling green kentucky if you are into vettes. you might be coure-de-lane (spelling?) idaho for their awesome car show.. tryiong to think when that show is.. i was thinking around that time.. its a cruising type show. Cedar point in sandusky ohio is an awesome amusement park if you do such things.

I was in Utah on a motorcycling event in August. I missed Arches NP as it required going South when I needed to turn North. I did have an interesting 20 miles on one of the worst gravel roads I have ridden, to get to a Hot Spring.

I ended up running through Grand Teton NP. A friend who was a few hours behind went the same route and slammed into a bison at 50 mph. Result: one broken wrist, one totaled motorcycle, one bison that didn't seem to care and just wandered off into the night.

Thank you for the suggestion (Gem Mountain) and caution. My daughter did her homework on Going to the Sun road restrictions. It is one of the "must-do's" for the trip and is one of the reasons I am looking into going with a smaller sized schoolie.

Thank you Christopher for the reply. I forgot all about Corvette museum. I have a friend who's family donated his 'vette after he died. Not sure if it survived the sink hole. I will definitely put it on the list.
Gonna miss ID car show
but I did have the best beer in my life from Coeur d'Alene Brewing Company. It was a Vanilla Bourbon Stout. Not 100% sure it was because the beer was so good or because I had just finished SERE school in Spokane.
#2 I just googled it and it is shut down!

St Mary's made the list and also led me to Alltrails.com. Good site for planning hikes.
