we started our jobs as workampers yesterday. housekeeping. jump in golf cart, go to cabin, clean. jump in cart, go to public bathhouse, clean. sceneery on the river is beautiful. all the other workampers are cool. people of all sorts (most are American) scootin around on bikes and carts. this is a large rv resort in gore ok. the lower illinois river manifests at the butt of lake tenkiller. it then meanders approx 10 miles to the arkansas river. we are on the bank of the lower illinois.

folks have already braved the bus. THE BUS! oh my, in the midst of high dollar rv's and fith wheels, sits the omnimous bus! they wanna look, but are afraid. of those that live on the risky side, we hear ohhh, wow, neat, etc.

everything is working as planned, a couple small leaks from all the beating and shaking. the water thingy where ya screw the water hose, and the greywater tank cap both drip. i will fix that this evening. we have cable tv and wifi as well as 30 amp service. wifi is spotty, i will have to build a yagi or maybe move to a different lot. they instaled the repeaters too low and the signal has to go through rv's instaed of over them. this is why i havnt uploaded any photos from here. the reason i didnt upload photos from the build is ...................well, i was building a bus!

peace out

Where are you workamping?
I was in Byng, Oklahoma yesterday for High School baseball games... Came back through McAlester.

If you're up at Tenkiller.... Snake Creek is my favorite place.(57.6 miles from me.)

Don't forget to grab some food at The Dam Restaurant.

Daughter is in school up at Talequah... I'll try to find one of my Award Winning Tenkiller Pics

I have wondered and heard good and bad stories of workkamping, I fully intend to do it one day

we always have people walk by the bus, 1 or 3 times and we finally say Hello, wanna see inside?

99.99999999999999 have said "SURE" I have a whole story to tell as we travel through the bus

Kind of like

"be careful of the steps, you're not 12 any more"
"here is the art gallery"
"the chauffeur sits here"
"here is living room" point to passenger side "love seat"
"and dining room" point to driverside across from living room....it's fun ;)

We would love to take this step and have been to some campgrounds where we talked with the workers. They seem be very happy. If any skoolies stop by, should we ask for you or ask for a discount since we know you? jk. Hope you enjoy every moment there. It sounds like it.

and once again POST PICTURES and if not of your bus & conversion PLEASE take pictures of where you are and let us know which sites are the better sites, the prices and all the good stuff that goes along with it. Since ALL (or I guess most) of us have mobile vacation cottages the chances of us stopping at the exact campground are very likely and it would be just fabulous to have the skinny on all the best it has to offer.

Know Marval very well! You're 55 miles northwest of me.

Stayed there in July of 2001, we were caught in a storm, stuck in the travel trailer... Wind came up, and everything was rocking. Wife says look out and see what's happening.
Told her "I see flying dolphins"

Apparently the neighbor kids didn't secure their pool toys.

Beautiful place up there, you're not too far from The Dam Restaurant if you can get transportation, I'd recommend their burgers!

we didn't fare too bad... National Weather Service has yet to confirm we did get hit by one of three tornadoes that were in our area.
Apparently, the Corps of Engineers is pretty concerned about the integrity of some of our area dams. Lot of evacuations in flooding areas, but that's seeming pretty typical for most of the central nation. Went to the storm cellar for the first time in 40 years.... last time I went underground, I actually saw the tornado.
