Damn you have one hell of an eye for taking pictures. I swear I could be standing in the exact spot where you shot each of these and it wouldn't be half as beautiful.

Moving around Olympic, I encountered yet ANOTHER rainforest - the Hoh, with the Hoh River running thru it. Not quite as brutal a river, but just as fast. There were no park rangers standing guard, only this guy, overseeing his harem.

A fine example of the Roosevelt Elk that occupy the Park. And one of his ladies grazing at the pond above.

The next morning we rolled on to Ruby Beach, and found this breathtaking scene of a creek entering the ocean.

The next beach down had a campground, and was empty, until the sun went down. So I emptied all the blackberries from the vines for a breakfast meal. Yes, November blackberries - unbelievably delicious.

Upon arriving in Lassen, I found a nice camping spot on a creek just outside the park. Nice, flat, wide and quiet, as I had planned to do some riding around the park. The sleet and snow woke me up early, and I decided to six-wheel-it around the park instead.

This is what I found at the ranger station – pay attention the road closure paragraph…..kinda scary.

Anyway, I wandered up the mountain in search of geologic wonders, and I found some. This is Crag Chaos – a collapse/explosion that littered the hillside with rock.

What is left of the mountain can be seen in the distance.

What can be seen surrounding the mountain is White Doom, spelling disaster and the end of my visit.

A snow-shovel passed me at the gate, and I followed him up the mountain. I thought it odd, but was sure they would close the park if anything was dangerous – right?

At the top of the hill, I found they simply closed the road. It seemed like the blizzard in the note. I turned around after some quick shots – it was thrilling to be in the middle of it, but disconcerting to travel down a mountain that was slick and icy.

So it appears I am headed south to San Francisco – the closest place with decent weather.

Hmmm...... I like beer

Should be there today or tomorrow, unless Sacramento shows me something cool.

Sacramento is a nice town in an ugly sort of way. LOL. It is the state capitol. The Sacramento river runs through it but I doubt you would do any kayaking since it is raining. At least down here it is. Sac is about 100 miles to S.F. DON'T MAKE THE TRIP DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC if you want to keep your sanity.

That can be said about driving through any big city, CC, as this pic will attest to, from last May heading into NYC from Maine-

way ahead of both of you guys, as I have not ridden in ANY city during rush in the last 10 years but by necessity or accident.

I am in Vallejo now, what side of town should I be in CC?
We can get together any time or day before Thursday, just let me know when and where.

Where are you going to park at night? If you take 37 to 101 and go south, you won't have a problem in San Rafael. That's about 30 minutes from Vallejo. That puts you close to the city and other places around the Bay Area. Sending you a PM.

You would proably be safer parking at the top of the hill above Vallejo
on the westbound 80 side, theres a rest stop there, you would need to take 80 east to American Canyon and come back to it.

Or if you want to drive to Vacaville which is around 20 mile you can park in front of my house.

Had a good time hanging with crazycal last night, it was good to meet more schoolie folks.

But I had to blow the taco stand, the city was not made for buses, so I headed south.

Headed south to Monterey - MUCH BETTERER!!

Spent the night in Las Vegas and wound up BACK in California after rolling south for a few hours.
I need to figure out this geography thing.
