hello from Padre Island

thought the tide might wash me away this morning - the surf came in 10 yards from the bus

Hey Dred --- be extra careful down on Padre. You do NOT want to venture into the "4X4" only zone. Parts of Padre are not sand, but rather superfine shells and when the tide comes in even relatively light weight vehicles sink straight down never to be seen again. There are so many buried cars & trucks down there it drives the treasure hunters metal detectors crazy!

Other than that...a great area with outstanding fishing.

And speaking of fishing...one more note...be advised the warm current that comes in from the Caribbean does bring some monster sized sharks right up to shore. ..so wade fish with caution. A number of record sized Tigers have been caught along the beach there.

Any plans of coming through Houston? We have a number of Skoolies here.

Yes I learned this lesson in the 90s, luckily I had a jeep ride by with a strap to pull me out. Thx for the heads up on sharks, but not really afraid of the little guys. I MAY be coming thru Houston if there is a reason to stop? Like great beer, food, and schoolie-types?

That's awesome. I was up by the Mansfield channel last march and swam out as far as I could... Luckily I wasn't eaten... I will be more cautious in the future...

just tell me when and where to show up (keep in mind my 32 foot issues) and I will be there. Currently I am off the beach, and might be headed your way before Weds.

I will contact a couple of the locals. There is usually space on the street next to my art studio to park something big. M1031A1 brought his 40' bus here with no problem a while back. I will touch base in a day or so.

Hey Dred...M1031A1 is up for a meet but can only do it mid-day. Have another chap we are trying to get hold of as well. M1031A1 said he could bring his rig. We could meet up at my art studios as there are probably more parking options for a couple of skoolies here. As for beer and food, there is a decent Mexican joint a block away. Just let me know if/when you might hit town and I'll try to line things up a little tighter.

Drive safe bud.

I could be down for a Mexican lunch. I am in Bay City now, and can be there tomorrow, but maybe we should shoot for weds or later?

How'za'bout Thursday? I will PM you the address. Just let me know how it goes and I'll try to make a hole in my schedule. I'll also check with M1031A1 and see what his day looks like.

Meanwhile, I will PM you the address.

11:30 is good for me on Thursday. Just getting over being sick. By Thursday I'll be 100%. I'll bring "Heavy Fuel" along, she needs to get some run time.

Groovy. See you guys on Thursday. Also put the word out to Flyboy but haven't heard back as yet. Don't forget to give me a ring when you pull up and I can hopefully point you to some off-street parking.

Hey Guys, really sorry but can't make this Thursday. I'm buried at work 12-14 hr. days and my only free time is the weekends.

Dread, welcome to Houston mate. I hope you enjoy your stay and have a safe trip. You all have some cold ones for me and hopefully I can make the next get together.

Later,
Eric
