The world is round if given enough time you will get there eventually. I go by if I see flags with maple leaves I have gone too far north, if I see flags with cactuses and eagles I have gone too far south, you can only go so far west or east because mother nature will turn you back. Everything in between you are golden.

THE (NOT SO) GRAND CANYON

Shortly after I got this pic, I filled my water tank, and hauled ass south again, rolling down just south of Sedona, dropping 3,000 feet, and gaining 20 degrees. Found a nice spot with some sucky, multi-colored hills that look as tho they need exploring.

After I parked, I realized I was sharing my view with a neighbor. She seemed a little pissed.

She kept giving me “that look”.

The moonrise last night gave me the feeling that this was all too good to be true. I am much more excited about riding around here than I was about the Grand Canyon.

Dred, you're right up the road from us!

Tomorrow we are heading south to The Lost Dutchman SP for the holiday. Mary has a craft/art showing at The Superstition Mtn Museum on Sat. Warm down there.

I don't like the "log-flume" of National Parks - all the dirt roads were closed, so you could not get out of the stupid parking lots.

I much prefer the freedom of Canyonlands NP and access to the White Rim Trail - I did not feel cheated after leaving Canyonlands

I am headed south after exploring this area, so maybe we can meet up?

If you find the museum, we will have our gold Dodge Neon, not the bus. Bus will stay at the CG.

Saw my first Saguaros - pretty exciting

then we did some mineshaft exploring - even more exciting

found some interesting ghost-towns...

and sat around a campfire and watched a lot of this

Best Thanksgiving weekend in quite some time........

Those bldgs. look familiar..

Saguaros are beautiful.

We were at the pizza joint at noon but it was closed even though my buddy (the owner) said it would be open.

Glad you had a good one, we did too!!

Spent a couple days in Slab City, fascinating yet depressing - lots of folks like me out there having a good time, surrounded by folks with no where else to go.
Trash is everywhere, making it even more sad, but the place is shockingly amazing at the same time, lots of natural beauty, immersed in man-made ugliness.

Too bad the light show on Chocolate Mountain did not show up, it was a spectacle - this is what they do there

more bubbling geysers than I could count

and of course, more schoolies

seems like I remember decades as the time it took?
Shot some video inside too, maybe I will wok on that soon?

I much prefer the art project "East Jesus" in the rear - much cooler

ongoing project of multiple artists means there might be something for everyone

Look closer

looking back at the peak in the distance (the big one) does not seem that far away?

another awesome sunset, and I have not even passed thru the gate of the park yet

Pretty doggone spectacular. And I'll bet the night sky is equally amazing out there.

unfortunately the night sky I have been waiting for has eluded me for months.

Right now I believe I am too close to LA, or there is too much moisture to see anything but "average" sky, sadly.

The first moment I see the spectacle I am looking for, you will see it too

A windy day near LA always makes for a pretty sunset where the smog and dust kicked up by the winds make for an unreal pink orange sunset.
