1946 Chevy School Bus

I've owned a few old school buses and still own 2 and a Grumman Flxible bus motorhome. I've just aquired a 1946 Chevy School Bus and would like to update the drive train. Any sugestions? Should I trade the frame out or add newer front and rear axles? Hope to be learning and implementing lots of your knowledge, Thank you, David.

Hey David --- in spite of the fact we've already spoken...Welcome anyway! Great bunch of knowledgeable/courageous folks here and I'm sure you'll find more than a few willing to share their experience. And please do post a few pix of that beauty here.

Hi Guys, I found this not to far away from were I stay and was wondering;

1) Is this a 46 Chevy school bus?
2) It has quite a bit of rust on the bottom of the body and some surface rust. Is this major issue/cost to have it fixed?
3) I was thinking I would like to convert it to a rat rod flat bed, double cab with suicide doors, what chassis could I use at an affordable price?
4) What parts would I use to build this up considering there is not much available. There is in fact nothing except the body.
5) What cost would I be looking at to get this done affordable?
6) Im in South Africa so these parts are readily available, what could I use as a good substitute?

Here is a few picture from a post I did yesterday --> http://www.skoolie.net/forums/f11/wh...his-16661.html

Would not be all that difficult to drop that cab/body onto a newer rolling chassis like an Isuzu NPR. That way all the basics are in place. Check out Ol' Trunt's 1935 Chevy which was such a full body transplant.

And also check out Ebay. I have found/seen tons of parts for that series there at bargain prices.
