Re: 1951 IHC Aggie Tailgater

haha it moves!

and then it died. diesels don't like air in the fuel. primed her back up, pulled it back in the shop and it died again. had a crack in the suction line on the fuel tank. rebuilt it yesterday morning. so we should be good to go now. haven't had time to try again. Should have just about everything together on it next weekend for tailgating! (i hope) 33 days to go!

Re: 1951 IHC Aggie Tailgater

After a very long weekend, made alot of progress, the bus now has exhaust! ended up having to run a flex pipe off of the turbo and around the outside of the frame and mated it up to the exhaust off of the dually donor. built all the brackets/robbed from the dually, took about 4 hours to put the stinking exhaust in. my soul for a lift, spent alot of time crawling around on concrete. rebuilt the floorboard/firewall, installed the fandancy lokar shifter(no longer using a stick thru the open floor board to shift between gears!, built a bracket for the tranny cooler. partially fitted the couch into the back of the bus. was a productive weekend. i might accidently get this all done before the first football game. 26 days to go. and about another 12 hours of work! we are going for zero breakdowns this year!

Suggestions for insulating the firewall/floorboard?

Re: 1951 IHC Aggie Tailgater

Didn't get much done this weekend, but did take a pic of the old girl out by my antique gas pump Managed to get the floorboard and firewall all put back together and insulated, and the mat back in. Also built up a little console on the left side of the drivers seat with a cup holder. I must say the bus drives much easier with power steering!

Oh and diggin DerBus thats alot of metal work, would like to build a roof rack, but thats going to have to be a later project.

Re: 1951 IHC Aggie Tailgater

Had a good weekend, managed to get the dirt skirt back in the engine compartment on the passenger side. did alot of clean up work. wrapping lines, tidying up wire etc. has a set of a/c lines made, they leaked so that didn't get marked off the list. built up the console beside the driver so there is an arm rest. relocated the radio/cb to that console. I'm getting down to the short list now. 12 days left till football season. If anybody happens to be in College Station, come tailgate with us!

Re: 1951 IHC Aggie Tailgater

well 6 days till football/tailgating start. and i'm down to two things left to do. get the a/c hooked up, and tighten up the fittings on the oil cooler lines. shouldn't be an issue to get ready to go by friday!

took some pics of the inside work i've done over the past few weeks. see below.
actually the first one is the engine compartment.

notice just the other side of the driver seat. built up the console and mounted the radio/cb where they are easier to get to while driving. also made a lil cup holder here as well. also the shifter is a bit nicer than previously. lokar 23" shifter, don't have to bend down to swap gears. oh and also the under dash ac unit. will have the lines all taken care of before next weekend.

nother pic of the console

nuff said

couch mounted in the back.

this was a supprise, went to pull myself up from workin on installing the couch and the center section folded down, i had no idea this was part of the couch.

couch folded out.

Couch from the back folded out

Couch from the back

Re: 1951 IHC Aggie Tailgater

one more. we didn't actully sit by the bus becuase our canopy caught wind while i was setting it up and rippped itself in half. so we actually setup under a tree about 200 or so feet away. well with nobody directly at the bus some slightly intoxicated coed decided to hop in the bus and have her friends snap a few pictures. I got a pretty good laugh out of it.

Totally Agree! i spoke with the Coed and asked that they send me the pictures they took. I was/am hopefuly however i have a distinct feeling they might have forgotten, due to the intoxicated haze they were in.
