Re: 1983 chevy shortbus

Went to pick it up today . The bus hadn't been touched for over 6 years and was sitting outside
We put a newer battery in it and it cranked ! Checked fluids , brake fluid was bone dry . We put some in got it on the road It spuddered and popped but it ran to the gas station where we noticed it needed a new belt for the alternator. A quick trip to automotive store and we had the belt back on put some air in tires , fresh gas and got on the interstate

Re: 1983 chevy shortbus

After we got going over 40 mph it vibrated the bus so bad some screws came loose on the dash . We figured it was because the tires were kinda warped due to being low pressure for so long . Kept it under 40mph on the interstate for about 40 miles before tires warmed up and gained their original shape .eventually we were hitting close to 60 smooth as can be

Re: 1983 chevy shortbus

We stopped at a large car wash to rinse it off and drove another hour or so and finally we were home.
after all was said and done we drove the bus a total of around 270 miles to get the bus home

I need to take this thing to the shop to have it thoroughly looked over . I can't imagine what would of happeNed if that wheel had locked up at 60mph on the steep Saluda grade going from NC to SC

Re: 1983 chevy shortbus

good to hear the trip went good, those are always fun trips if you start with a good attitude and just laugh at broken things...as the $$$$ flies away

what are basic plans? camper, tiny house ??
