Shhh, quiet!
Removed the engine cover, pulled out the insulation. Lined the cover inside with peel and seal (poor man's Dynamat), replaced the insulation. Changed the hinge shims to tighten the lid, snugged the adjuster on the latch to pull it down tighter... Ahh, quieter by quite a bit.

Just got back from a little road trip and the engine noise is much less, we can converse quite easily, even when the fan cuts in.

I like the spare tire holder, what did you use to hold it on, and can you still open and close the door? I may have to use your ideal

Full use of the door.
I used a piece of metal from the old stop sign to span the window, bolted an old (13in) car wheel to that and hung the tire on the wheel. A ratchet trap secures the tire to the wheel.
Simple, cheap and effective while protecting the tire from damage.

Getting ready to finish the paint scheme on the DS. This is the highlight of this side.....We've all seen the Greyhound logo, introducing our version of the Greyhound. ...The Gecko!

I like the crane idea....I could hook it to Hubby when he's whizzing out the backdoor so that he don't fall out.
