SUb'd to your thread. I love your build. I am thinking that a TC1000 is just the right size for me. I am bidding on one right now. your tranny is a AT545? how is it on the hills. do you know the rear end gears? I am in mountain country and want to know if this setup will be good for going over passes! Cheers!

Thanks! AT545 with 3:54 diff. Not fast, not slow, it's halfassed. We go up and down 6 percent often, occasionally even pass a truck. We have put over 10000 miles on it and are happy.

before I did my transmission swao I had AT545, 3.54 gears and 225/70R19.5 tires.. I drove more than 10,000 miles on the bus that way... from florida to ohio.. over monteagle in tennessee.. down the virginia passes on I-77..

while not nearly as high of elevation as the rocky mountains.. ive come to learn that the grades in the eastern hills are as steep if not steeper than the rockies..

in a lighter short bus I had no issues with feeling like I was going to over-speed.. wind resistance and the small holding power that the 545 does have were enough that I did not have to get on the brakes alot

with my T-444E I typically stayed above 50 on the uphills , unless the traffic were to slow way down due to a semi that jumped in the passing lane.. then I had a bit of a slow time getting back up to a decent speed...

were i to have a full size 10 or 11+ row bus I wouldnt feel as comfortable in the mountains with an AT545... uphill id be concerned that im making a ton of heat on a long grade at slow speed.. (larger TC slip ratio).. and downhill I wouldnt have the same lighter weight where wind helps out alot and would likely have been on the brakes alot more..

there are forum members running AT545 equipped busses all over the mountains ... most of them in shorter busses..

I'm still getting an occasional SES. The engine de-rates as long as the SES is present. The code per. Scangauge is : "ID: 190 - Engine Speed (RPM)
FM: 2 - Data erratic, intermittent, or incorrect".

I believe it's the crank position sensor. I don't think this 2000 5.9 Cummins has a cam sensor.

Anyone?
