Re: 2001 E450 Star Trans MotoBus Conversion Project

I raced 400 Huskies for a lot of years but when the suspension got longer than my legs I had to switch to formula road racing. Yamaha RD350 converted to half a water cooled TZ750 top end (373 cc's). Consistently ate highly modified, thousand cc four strokes for lunch. Loved that bike.

I had one of those for a while. My back still hurts.

Tango - I had a Yamaha 175cc Enduro that I modified pretty heavily. It was so light it could corner under the open class bikes then use its higher enduro gearing to catch them in the long straights. I loved that bike.

Love them 2-strokes! Chain saws & weed whackers...that's the real sound of horsepower!

Technical note:
"A normally aspirated, gasoline burning two-cycle engine will produce 40% more horsepower per cubic centimeter than a normally aspirated, gasoline burning four-cycle engine." Official scientific finding of the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme - the European Gran Prix sanctioning body).

Re: 2001 E450 Star Trans MotoBus Conversion Project

Got a little more done on the wall.. taking long breaks between working on this thing.

Plan is to finish the wall sooner than later, build a shelf in the back of the bus attached to the wall(s), and then carpet both sides of the wall for a little extra sound deadening.

On another note, found out that most of my windows are leaking to the inside. This has caused the front corner of the floor to rot pretty badly.. it's a little scary to walk on now. Not sure if I feel like ripping the entire floor out to repair or just patch it for now.. or just leave it. Looking like I'll leave it for now. Oh well.

Re: 2001 E450 Star Trans MotoBus Conversion Project

This is my first post but I like what you have done so far.

I am currently looking for a shuttle bus also. The plan is tohave room in the back for a slim toolbox aginst the rear wall and space for 1 motorcycle. Honda VFR DCT.

We like to travel with the entire family but they don't really do the camping thing. Hotels or no trip.....LOL. So I plan to make a party bus/lounge area in front that can comfortably seat 12 people and still take my motorcycle along for the trip. Might even tow the wifes car behind.

Anyways.....I'll keep watching to see how you finish up your ride.

Re: 2001 E450 Star Trans MotoBus Conversion Project

I tried posting before but it seemed to not go thru.

Anyways, I like what you have done so far. I plan to do something similar when I find my Shuttlebus. I want the lift in the back also. I plan to take my motorcycle with me and build a partition wall as you have done. In the front I plan to create a lounge/party type area that will be comfortable for my whole family to ride in (parents, 4 kids and wife, brother with wife and 2 kids.) They won't do the camping thing but we like for everyone to ride along when we go on trips. This shuttlebus idea sounds like the perfect plan.

I'll keeping watching your thread to get more ideas.

Re: 2001 E450 Star Trans MotoBus Conversion Project

Have some decent plans for this year.. just need the snow to melt off the bus so I can get to work. Hope to finish the wall completely, replace the bus door with an RV style door, and add some shelving inside to get all our junk up off the floor. Month or so and I should be able to get to work.
