2006 E-350 Tailgate Shuttle

Not much of a conversion, just some cosmetic updates for now. Picked this up a month ago with less than 14,000 miles, was used in a senior living facility. We will be using this primarily for tailgating. Plan on also installing some perforated logo decals on a few of the windows, might install a pair of batteries and a flat screen. Anybody got any name suggestions?

Had a guy re-paint the stripe and add some flames to the hood.

2006 with 14K miles....WOW. What did a find like that set you back?
SORRY....that's a little strong of a question, but WOW. Was it a private seller, or auction find. Which power train does it have? I can see great tailgating ahead for you.

The guy I bought it from had gotten it through an auction and had used it for a few months transporting refugees around for his church. It had previously been used in a senior living facility that went out of business. In the right light you can still see where the lettering was.

Two sided Television Mounts.

A friend has a bus with a 52" TV. He mounts it inside when driving but can disconnect and reconnect outside in about 2 minutes. On the outside he has an awning over it so it works in the Rain too. Great looking bus, I'm jealous.

Please give me some thoughts on attaching an awning rail to the side above the windows and using a tarp and tent poles.

Would 3M VHB tape be sufficient to attach the rail? or would I need rivets or screws thru the fiberglass?

First of all - those products look awesome and I would appreciate if you'd share the sources! I'm planning to use some tarps I got for free from Harbor Freight as our awning, but hadn't gotten to specifics as far as attachments and poles and such.

Second, there may be some who might disagree, but I don't think an adhesive is going to be enough for this. Any time the awning is extended the rail will be subject to the weight of the awning, the tugging of the guy lines and the force of the wind. I'd also be concerned about the heating and cooling of the adhesive diminishing its effectiveness. Most glues soften when warm, so I could imagine a nice, hot, windy day where the glue gets softened by the heat and then the sail of an awning catches the wind and pulls away.

there are glues now that are used to rebuild the teeth of the saw blades used in saw mills - l would imagine that some glues would pull the fibre glass away before they let go - it's all in using the proper glue for the job - some bus manufacturers glue the sheet metal to the ribs

I would try the VHB, they don't call it that for nothing. I know someone here who mounted their solar panels on the roof with just VHB tape. If you cover every available surface with it, I think it will hold.

Fair enough! I was just sharing my opinion on whether a tape product would be sufficient in this context. I have no problems with people that have differing opinion or experience that contradicts my assumptions.
