Thanks Roach --- And I just got the word that my driveshaft will indeed have to be a two part affair with a carrier bearing. Had hoped for a single only because of simpler installation, but I guess since the old girl came with a two-piece it will at least hold to that tradition. Bad news is...it's gonna co$t close to a grand by the time it is all said & done. Making one from scratch doesn't come cheap. Ouch!

Can you get an over sized two piece driveshaft out of something else and just have the length cut down to fit your rig?

Wish I could Robin, but this rig is just too Frankenstein. A 5th generation Allison 2200 MH tranny up front and a Dana 80 HD on the rear with a long stretch in between make for an odd duck. Looked at a C4500 Chevy which is sort of close, but by the time it was cut in the middle, extended, end joints matched and balanced, it would have been about the same or more, just with mostly used parts. At least everything will be new on this one.

Yeah, you can't beat new. I often end up paying dearly for trying to reuse things.
Just read about the first 20 pages of your build. That's pretty amazing, and you even put a bathroom in there.

Tango. Hey buddy, get another bid in the drive shaft. That is way too much to spend even for a custom deal like you need even with the center support bearing and hanger. All new, balanced and gold plated that is a $400 drive shaft! Been there done that on Honeysuckle Rose. Jack
P.S. Don't spend the savings, keep it to buy beer for when we finally get together! Jack

Just wondering who will be doing the work, the people that said you need it or are they farming it out?
Disclaimer: like I have said before I know nothing
But that does seem pretty high, course the last drive line I had build was about 40 years ago for a Studebaker and complete it was like ($90.00)

Thanks for the feedback All --- I do have a couple of other bids working. The "just under a grand" was the first one back and from a supplier I know to do top-notch work. Houston Drive Train Service...been around since the '70's. We'll see how the other come in.
