ha! allison 1000s and fancy digital screens arent cheap. but hey I dont have a wife or kids or smoke or drink(much) ...my busses pale in comparison to what the aforementioned things cost..

Piddlings --- while on hold for a couple of much needed and currently unavailable helpers (cabinet maker and X Car builder/hydraulics guru)...I managed to kill some time on more little stuff.

Ordered some textured styrene that I cut up to line my new battery box. Given that it is 14ga. steel, I figured some insulation (of the electrical kind) might make for less drama down the road. The AGM batt will lay on its' side so the posts would otherwise make lots of sparky noises and let all the smoke out.

Then there is this doodad. Surely you all have one of these...right?

Free Skoolie membership to whoever figures out what this is for.

(Hint...it works with something else posted fairly recently).

And finally...I just ran across the ULTIMATE SHORTY! You can fit about five of these into a normal parking space.

And before you ask...yes...it is real.

ONWARD!

I think it's just some quarter inch plate you had folded to make a guard for the tranny oil lines, then drilled and welded it up.

It was just entirely by luck that I'd been behind on following this thread and the place where I'd began reading yesterday was the very post where that part first appeared. I got to the end and said "hey, wait! That's the same thing-a-ma-jig!" If not for that I'd have guessed it was a funny-looking stake pocket for the side of a trailer.

Coupla' handy widgets --- Howdy All...I came across a couple of doodads that some might find helpful. Maybe you've seen 'em, maybe not.

This is a suction screen. However, I am using some to keep bugs & muddaubers from fouling some lines. I put one on the vent line to my freshwater tank...and another on the drain line for my A/C. Given that I had to chip out maybe 30 pounds of muddauber condos while demoing my bus, I figured anything that will keep them out of lines going outdoors might be an asset.

And then there are these little guys. really handy, weather tight, through wall grommets. They come in several sizes and can secure and seal either electrical or small plumbing lines. I am also using one to secure my 1/4" fuel shutoff rod. And they tighten down around whatever you run through them. Nifty!

Hope someone finds them helpful.

Did not get much done today other than a few coats of Hammerite on my dash/firewall and handing off a couple of projects to a builder friend.

I always open my Bus Excel worksheet before I start reading on this site, so I can note interesting things. The suction screen was just added to my freshwater tank notes.....I wouldn't have thought of that. Thanks.

And I've been in a holding pattern for a couple of weeks.....still waiting for my new door and old steps to be cut out. I did take the plans for my roof deck to another fabricator who hopefully will be a little quicker on the draw.....we'll see.

Happy to hear someone has a use for some of those items. And best of luck with the fabricator. It took my local sheetmetal shop well over six months total to get my doghouse put together.

And I keep a log of "good ideas & handy stuff" found here as well. My sincere thanks to the many members who contribute and help make this such a great and useful forum.

Hot Ziggity! --- Finally found someone to sandblast a bunch of parts. And they are right here in the city. Had planned on just getting a coat of wet primer to forestall the rust bloom that rapidly occurs in this local humidity, but...turns out these guys will do a full powder coat for the same (quite reasonable) price. So now I am having the doghouse frame & cover finished in silver/gray Hammerite powder coat which will match the footwell I have already installed. Nifty.

The other parts (two pair of rub rails - upper & lower) will get primer only so I can paint them later.

If these pieces turn out well I will next drop off my fenders and hood for blasting & priming.

But in the meantime, I will be locked up on another, large concrete sculpture for the next month or two so not much else is gonna happen on the bus till I am clear of that project. Well...maybe a few small things done late nights.

This one will consist of a large, round table (to seat 10) and a bench surrounding it. What the Hell was I thinking!?!?!?

This will be finished to look like old, weathered wood like the last piece...

...the fancy French name for this stuff is...Faux Bois. But all that means is "fake wood".

No action on the bus lately, but...

...the table & bench are moving along. This is just the rebar frame and seat posts.

And here it is with the first layers of concrete.

Still a lot more to do but I didn't want Ol' Trunt getting all over me for not posting progress on something!
