Keep on keeping on, still rooting for you !

If you are inclined for alternative treatment an Eden Energy Medicine practitioner can do a lot to mitigate the negative effects of chemo, as well as help heal.

A good friend of mine has recovered from a fight with cancer that gave him poor odds, but he pulled through and is very well today. Keep up the fight as you obviously are. You seem to be made of some pretty tough stuff in addition to being extremely talented. You're an inspiration on many levels.

Keep breathing Brother. Yesterday they found my 53 year old exwife, mother of my daughter, dead in bed. Apparently natural causes. My daughter is in Australia.

So sorry to hear about the Ex. Mine has been fighting cancer for a couple of years now but was just pronounced clean. Still more follow up treatments, but she can breathe a little easier for the moment.

And a really good friend of 56 just dropped dead of a massive heart attack a little over a month ago. Super nice guy and a real shame.

Sooner or later something is going to kill us all and there doesn't seem to be any logic to the pattern. Personally, I have absolutely no excuse whatsoever for still being alive. Based on the odds, I should have checked out long ago. Given the stupid things I have done and the risks I have taken and the number of times I have come that close...well...I figure every new day is a gift. One that I need to be thankful for and need to try and make the most of.

All I can say is...

ONWARD!

All my friends, and later in life, even my parents, admitted they thought I would not see 21. 45 years later I guess I will outlive all the naysayers.

Still at it --- Managed to get in a couple of more hours today and wrapped up all the deck framing. Then started adding the mounting tabs that the wood deck (marine ply) will attach to.

Stout but still only weighs about 130 - 140 pounds. The wood will add about 290 pounds (4-1/2 sheets at 66 pounds per sheet).

Deck attachment tabs are sections of 2x2 angle. Most will get self-tapping "wood to metal" screws with a few bolted through across the front. Have about ten welded up with another 30 or so to go.

Of course they all need to be ground flush on top, then hit with a shot of self-etching primer just fight the humidity until the whole thing can get painted.

Great work as always Tango! You're giving me a hint of what I'm in store for when I do an 8x30 on what ever bus I end up with.

What part of Houston is your shop in? I could come put in some slave labor for the cause. Assuming my eyesight comes back any time soon. Thanks red.

Thanks CCPT/Red --- won't be anything going on for a week or so. I start another round of chemo tomorrow that goes for three days straight. Really not much anyone could help with right now anyway, just little bits & pieces. May need a few recruits in a few weeks though. It will take four, fairly healthy guys to put the rack back onto the roof once I finish all the little stuff and paint it.

Thanks Ted --- The edge will show all around. Maybe I should get it chromed.

BTW...I did get another ten mounting brackets welded on today! Only another twenty or so to go.

Tango, there use to be a guy in Lima that did the paint on chrome. I don't know if he's still in business but someone has to be doing it in Houston. Check this out.....

Goddam. Just, goddam. I know life's not fair, but... damn.

Since I moved up here, I haven't found new friends nearly as fast as I thought I might. I guess I'm just old and crochety. But, most of the folk I think of and care about exist as streams of ASCII characters at this point.

Of all the folks I like in this community, you top the list of people I'm looking forward to meeting. Maybe I just need to drop the trivia that occupies my days at this point and fly down and help for a week.

Get better and stay better, dude. You own The Longest Thread In The World and it needs to stay that way!

Oooops! Thanks for the reminder that I never responded to "where is shop?"

Actually not far from downtown. On the north side in an old warehouse.

Hey Jim...yes...someone here in town is doing that process. I have seen two cars, one copper looking and the other in chrome. The entire cars! Freaking blinding in the sun! And there are some rattle can paints that are OK but the better ones are not rated for outdoor use...say what? Me...I'm just gonna use some cold galvanizing as a base then some silver metallic paint.

And many thanks for the very kind words Dan. Believe me, I plan on defying the odds and keeping this thread going as long as possible. Like you (it sounds) ...I have more friends on this forum than anywhere else in my life. And from what I have seen...better quality as well!

Started my third round of chemo today (the looonnng session, 7am till 4:30pm...ACK!) Next two days will be shorter but hey...either way it's still just Rat Poison! Hoping to get a few hours in on the bus this weekend. Lots of annoying little welds still to do just on the rack but by damn I am gonna keep going on this project until I either can't hold up a tool...or I am driving it through Big Bend!!!
