I originally had it in place with some self-tapping sheetmetal screws, but lo and behold...a couple of them twisted of on the way out! Really? After drilling those suckers out I soon discovered that I really needed to tap the holes and use bolts as I had to go with 1/8th" angle for the new brace. That meant a couple of more trips to the hardware store. One for bolts...and then another for a 13/64's drill bit to get the right hole size to tap with 1/4 x 20 threads. 3/16th (which I had) was (naturally) a bit too small to tap properly. Grrrrrr.

Anyhow, it will now let me start on the more demanding work of creating the dash/firewall/doghouse. More fun to come.

Then there is Big Bird...

I still have more to do, but he is coming along.

Got the head & collar shaped and some features sketched on today. Now need to apply a few layers of Bondo-like material to seal it all and sculpt the final finish. All it will need then is some paint...and installing...welded atop and eight-foot post.

Not enough hours in the day, despite Daylight Savings Time.

ONWARD!
Wow, big birds lookin pretty cool!
....even if you had more hours in a day and more days in a week, you'd still be short ....that's what I'm finding anyway.

Almost ready to install --- Got his head welded on and most of the paint work done.

Still need to coat & sculpt & paint his neck but almost there. Hope to install it this week.

Then...back on the bus!

ONWARD!

IF possible, let us know when the 'Big Reveal' will be. Can't imagine a better time to meet over a few cold ones. I'm sure it will be a hectic day for you, but a few brewskies, always seems to help me.

Thanks guys --- I finished him up today and hope to install him whenever we have the next dry day. Maybe Friday? Either way, he will be there at RE:HAB Bar on the Bayou and hard to miss. His job will be to keep an eye on things out in the backyard.

Just hope he doesn't scare off the friendly feral ducks that also seem to like this bar. The owner LOVES those ducks!

Hey Tango, can you send me your #. PM if you want. Had to replace my phone yesterday and some of the contacts did not get backed up. Are you talking about this Friday at the RE:Hab? sounds like we are getting a few more onboard. Gonna have to do something soon.

Geez Tango, you are a true artist indeed. That bird is freaking amazing.

Hope to meet up someday soon over a few cold ones. I cannot do this Friday however as I am picking up the wife from the airport at 5:30pm. If you break free tomorrow (Thursday) I'm in as I'm now officially retired and can do any day of the week.
