A little more woodwork in place --- Howdy folks. I managed to get another section of marine ply installed today. Have another cut to fit but will deal with it manana. As I have previously noted (bitched about) the curves and lack of squareness on this antique make every little chore like this an adventure. I wound up trimming less than a millimeter off of every side several times to get this shite to fit even reasonably. A real PITA. Then after drilling all the holes, applying adhesive, mounting, screwing in place...my Sunday was done. Limited progress to be sure.

One note...if you are attaching wood to sheet metal...be sure to use the right fasteners. Specifically...those that say "for attaching wood to metal". Please...no sheetrock screws.

Good thing this is a shorty. The marine ply runs about $80 bucks a sheet here. But, it should hold up well. I should live so long as to see it rot!

I also got the remaining rear panel cut to fit but will wait till Monday to do the screw & glue thing.

ONWARD!

Looks great Tango. Refresh my memory as to what material you used around the windows--it sure produced a clean fit. Jack

Howdy Jack --- the original windows dropped down inside the wall and water poured in there rusting things away. I went with RV windows so I had some 14 or 16 Ga. (I don't recall now) bent to make the caps that close them up. The window trim will screw into them along the bottom.

Looking good Tango. Squaring things up in a regular skoolie is difficult enough. I can only imagine that 46'. I've ran enough conduit in my days to know you don't always level everything. Sometimes you have to make it even with the lines around it as opposed to leveling. Keep the pix coming.

Roger that Phatman --- On this thing a try square is not a very valuable tool. Just something to get you started on trimming to fit. Something tells me the roof line will be like everything else...different at just about every point you need to fit something.

BTW...missed your message until last nite. Will give you a ring this afternoon. Sorry 'bout that mate.

Beautiful day today!!! --- Blue skies. Perfect 70 degree temp. So...what did I do? I worked indoors all day of course.

Got the final wall panel up on the passenger side...did a rust treatment on the rear corner then put some John Deere Blitz Black on it and the inside of my water box. All that AND...had a great chat with Phatman. He is close to Houston and we are trying to get the local Skoolies together for a little adult beverage time and bus chatter. All in all, a pretty good day.

Also filled the screw holes that will remain visible with good old Water Putty. Will sand'em down tomorrow so the wall section can be painted.

ONWARD!

10-4 on the chat today Tango. Enjoyed talking with you today on the phone (even after thinking I hung up. That was funny as hell) Anyway, definitely a good productive day. Okay GreyCoyote and FlyboyHPD y'all heard Tango about meeting up for a few adult beverages. We just need to figure a time here real soon.

Got maybe an hour in working today --- Managed to apply some long, thick beads of OEM grade 3M seam sealer to areas that had been previously open to the outdoors around the back end.

Then had to run help my barfly friends install some bamboo fencing behind the big bench I spent most of the Summer building. Turns out that Texas Highways Magazine is coming down to take some pix for an article on this odd type of art we have so much of in Texas. The pub is the official travel magazine for the state and has a rep for covering cool and odd BS all over Texas. Should be a great boost for my favorite neighborhood bar.

Will try and post a few bus pix in a day or so.

ONWARD...ISH!

Wish we could be there, wife is recovering from a major illness and is currently home bound for a bit. I'm recovering from what the kids gave me earlier in January....

No big deal either way. This has nothing to do with buses. However...we do need to try and get some locals together sometime soon.

Hope the wife gets to feeling better but if you have kids in school they seem to bring home something new every few weeks. Best of luck with it.

Ok Tango, I should be there between 5 & 5:30. Graycoyote is in California, he can't make it. I sent Flyboy a private message, but I haven't heard from him yet. See ya Friday.
