Welcome jgries --- Cool old Wayne and a very handy size. And with most of the demo work done, you are way ahead of the game. But I do admit some degree of jealousy regarding that Wayne booklet. For some reason the 1946 versions are harder to find.

BTW... there is an outfit called McClellan's that just may have some more paper on your rig. I actually found several different pieces of vintage literature for mine there. If not, leave him a note on what you are looking for. He gets new old obscure stuff in all the time.

Best of luck on the buildout and keep the pix a'comin'..

Re: 91 Wayne Chaperone - Mental but Gentle

Okay
1)you can rev engine up->throttle connected
2)when put into park it actually holds vehicle with park lug->linkage connected and flexplate connected to engine
3)assume driveshaft connected-> that would be a loud clanging noise and bus would roll when in park

You should have a 4spd 700R4 maybe the TV cable came loose on the carb/TB actually a good trans

Can you "feel" it engage into drive or reverse at all?

What tranny does it have?

Re: 91 Wayne Chaperone - Mental but Gentle

Don't pull it (that might break something)

It may be an electrical issue (water, ice maybe not letting a solinoid engage a band?)

I am no transmission expert (sure theres a forumn you could search on tho )

atleast the snow isn't wet initially , like the rain and mud here

Jeremy, just a quick question. The switch on the door opener, what does it do? I thought it was to turn on a step lamp or maybe to start the flashers out back working. I can't see it doing anything.

Thanks,

Keith

Re: 91 Wayne Chaperone - Mental but Gentle

Thank you for your quick reply. I will just keep on keeping on. LOL Yes my bus had all of the original parts and seats from the factory. On my overhead panel there only three switches, one is for the passenger dome lights, one is for the rear heat and one is for the automatic snow chains. (frankly I an scared to try it, and there is a twist switch for the rear A/C. Not much, but a lot of spaces to add what I want. I think several LEDs for full light and some for mood. Maybe a light show like the van on "Cash Cab." You just never know when my wife start to be inventive.

If you have a manually operated door and the switch you are referring to is a momentary contact switch that is depressed by the door lever it should be to activate the overhead warning lights. Maybe yours were disabled at some point.

I don't have any overhead warning lights. This was never a school bus, it was a old folks home transportation bus. I see a place that the lights would have been, but none ever existed.

Keith
PS sorry for jacking your thread, Jeremy

Good thought, and thank you. I have a note to that effect and may do that.
