Buying advice? 1994 Ford Collins Bantam

Greetings-

Would appreciate any thoughts on 1994 Ford Collins Bantam 63k miles 7.3 liter turbo diesel with AC.

This bus was used by a local fire service for transport and more recently as a daily driver by the seller. Seller looking for $4200

A forum search yielded one negative comment about Bantam build quality. A Google search didn't yield much of value. Forgive me if I missed a thread on this website.

I have owned a few. They are OK. I had to remove the sheet metal on the header above the drivers seat. I found a Lipton Iced Tea can. I looked at the date code on the can. It was the same year of the bus. That gives you an idea about pride in their workmanship.

first look was good

So this was the first time I had set foot in a school bus in many years.

The good news is that this bus is about the same size as my pickup truck so no problem fitting it in the driveway.

We realized that any diesel bus will require some soundproofing. My three kids have been raised in the relative quiet of a minivan cocoon.

Now to work on convincing my wife that this will be a great project and build many wonderful family memories. Stay tuned.
