Some folks are just uncouth.
I'm not surprised about the breakdowns. Most folks get a bus and just hit the road thinking they'll run forever with no maintenance.
Hope you heal up quick man!

Why?
I've NEVER ran a bus without going over everything.
If I were to follow what most others do, I'd have already painted the bus and put time into converting it before I found the mechanical problem.
Ask Sandi- I'm a BIG believer in fixing the bus before proceeding with all the other stuff.

I'm doing it the other way around, but only because it's winter.
I've identified the mechanical issues and I'll deal with them when it warms up a bit. Meanwhile, it's not driving anywhere and I can work on the inside.

we are driving older vehicles.. they can and do break-down.. I do agreee that taking all precautions ahead of time is the best way to go.. driving and learning your bus before you embark..
although that said, both of my busses I bought and took off on 1000 mile road trips to get them home... both of them were serviced first... and one still broke down...

If it aint broke dont worry about it till it breaks. I got my bus from a rental company, they say they went over everything but it made it home. first thing i did was oil change. I guess if it is winter & snowing interior 1st is fine.

Just make sure that the line supplying air pressure to your horns is isolated from the rest of the system.
The last thing you want to happen when you honk your horns is for something else in the system to lose air pressure.
It would be a bit of a problem if every time you honked your horn your air bags deflated.
