NEW IDEA-
I have an extra rear door from Roll Your Own, that is in ok shape. Its easier to find parts for it, maybe the seal is easier to find/make?
Maybe I'll toy with the idea of putting the rear door from RYO where the WC door is currently on the shorty. Of course, I'll have to panel over and fab up some supprots behind it, but not too much work.
IDK, I've got so much on my mind.
I'd love to get some opinions ideas here.
I've got this to fix, but I think I've got this part figured out (paneling over it after cutting out the rust).

And the bottom left of the WC door has some serious cancer. Its fairly localized, so I could cut out that part of the door, but a repair panel is gonna be either expensive, or really hard to fab up myself.

Figured I'd post the pics again so we're all on the same page.

The door that used to be here is no longer needed for this bus, due to the roof raise and the more "RV" type of build we're doing on the big bus.

What yall think? I'm mostly pondering the WC door- do I keep it, delete it, or rig up the rear door from RYO to fit there??

I only paid $3800 for BOTH my buses!
For some reason, I find DEALS in the cold of winter in places folks don't wanna go, and that seems to be where the bargains are for me.
Colorado in Feb, KY in late Nov. Man, a cold bus ride home, but the deals are worth it.
Still can't believe what a bus this shorty is! $1760 with new tires and fresh fluids! YEEEHAW!

About the only thing that's removing it now is...Klean Strip brand Liquid Sander and I got it at HD. $6.98 for a qt. It works pretty good. Careful with it and don't breath it in.
I originally bought it to scruff up my skoolie for the paint job and noticed it was also taking off the glue!

Got my 2001 E450 for $2250 on craigslist from a dude that lived on a dirt road in northern wisconsin last August! Their out there!

I've had good luck with a 3M stripper wheel chucked up in an electric drill. I did a repaint on a 35' Bounder MH last year and used the wheel (more than one) to remove the glue from the tape decal decorations on the rig--did a nice clean job with a slight bit of clean up with lacquer thinner in the hard to get at corners. I used a heat gun to get the decal to release followed by the wheel. I'd used the same technique to get the reflective Police stickers off of several patrol cars.

You can get the wheels and mandrels on ebay. Look for 3M 07498 STRIPE OFF WHEEL/ERASER WHEEL WITH HARDWARE 3M 7498 or such.

P.S. I've tried a couple of cheeeepo wheels and all they did was make me mad.

The second picture shows the back corner and i know all the rust is inter-connected. Ugh!! Dangit!
As far as what I think you should do....
If you can make the new door work without too much trouble then I'd say go for it. Try to weigh out which method is going to take the least amount of time and trouble. But, can you line the new door up and make it fit perfectly?
Maybe you should just fix the original door and be done with it. I dunno.

both EC and I did good on our shorties.. mine was 1800 and has air-conditioning.. damaging its transmission was my own damn fault...

I've got a bag of 3m stripper wheels. Funny you mention those, I just tried one. The reflective tape adhesive just smears though. Lacquer Thinner does nothing at all to it.

Hard to say, I haven't been driving it since we started stripping and prepping it, and before that I left it in the driveway mostly for the last few weeks since the city are being little bitches.
But the engine DOES seem smoother, quieter definitely.

I think they probably work great on anything BUT the reflective strips' adhesive!

I wish I had some 3M stripper wheels. The lettering is real hard to get off. Brittle too.

Hell compared to the reflective tape the lettering was a breeze. Five secs with the heat gun, and then I'd peel up a corner and the whole letter would come off as one, leaving no residue, or not much.
Guess yours got baked on a little worse.
