Yes, this forum is a great addition. It's much tougher trying to retro a small bus then a large one.

Says you! I had to think of all kinds of crazy things to take up all that extra space. Oh wait...no...no...that really wasn't a struggle at all.

LOL Yeah, says me. ;) I'm having a hard time drawing out my plans for the interior. The woman now wants a bath and shower, mini kitchen (Refrig., sink, 2 burner stove, microwave and storage plus room for a couch/bed and room for guests to sit. 15' long x 7' 6" wide, thats tough.

I like the idea of a decal or sticker that sez "Short Bus for the Spacially Challenged"! I want one for my shorty....

Howdy All

Most certainly the small bus is hard to design for , but well worth it in my opinion.
My partner of 20+ years and I live in a 1967 Superior Coach on a Ford 500,

Many of the places we've been able to live or even simply park , would
not have worked with a full size bus. Somehow shorties are cute

We have a kitchen , stove , oven , fridge, satellite TV, internet , telephone, catalytic heater and
soon hopefully a sun-mar RV toilet.( already have the room built for it, just need the cash.)

12 Deep cycle batteries , solar , 40AMP land line charger , 90AMP batter isolator,
and we are in the middle of building a wood gasifier.
http://primus.drclue.net/Power/WoodGas/index.php

One of these times I need to take some pictures of the bus.

Yes, I have a shortie bus of my own which I just bought. I have lots to keep me busy with until I have to finalize a floorplan, but I can tell I'm gonna have a hard time squeezing everything in.

That is the reason I went with a short bus! I figured I can find/stay in a lot more places. I'm hoping that benefit outways all the extra space in a larger bus.

Yes, please do. And lots of them. As I browse the galleries of bus conversions I find that the more pictures the better.

Re: FINALLY!!!! A forum for the spacially challenged!!

Well, each bus adventure will have it's own needs and priorities
but I guess the expression of our design will have some value,
either in solving an issue or helping others with different concerns
recognize and/or avoid issues of their own.

While indeed I should (and at some point will) take some snap shots, the basic layout
of the bus we have lived in for years with our (can't count that high ) cats
it looks sorta like this textual layout

======[Bi-folding dutch door]====
| Sink |walkway | stove |
|Toilet |walkway | fridge |
| TV /bed / living area |
===========================

Our bus features a left side door at the rear
which is used for storing 80lbs of propane (4 5gal cans)
Above that space is the end of the bed and above that
on a cantalieavered shelf is the TV , internet , Pirate TV box , etc

Under the bed is a compartment for food storage,
12 deep cycle marine batteries,
40 amp battery charger, tiny (600 watt) inverter

On the wall forward to back between the fridge and the living
area on the starboard side is the catalytic heater.

This week we are working on a (wood gasifier) to run our generator
and maybe the bus itself. Calling it a wood gasifier is somewhat mis-leading
as it can use a wide variety of carbon based fuels, and as a technology
has been extreamly popular in both WWI and WWII with many parts of the
world still using it. The intitial notes on the project can be found at
http://primus.drclue.net/Power/WoodGas/index.php

"Primus" (The name of the bus) has served us well for a long time
in several climates/locations and we expect it will do nothing but
get better over time.

I could have had a bigger bus for half the cost , but it would not
have been half as good a result.
