going to remove it most likely. May re-locate it to just behind the driver seat.
Definitely not wanting h 14 feet of hose running through the bus.

We've only got a front heater, but they still used those cheesy screw clamps, so of course it had been leaking. Very minimal though. Holding off until we can do a coolant flush/change at same time, plus i need to replace the valves in the engine compartment. Going to replace all those clamps with proper spring clamps when we do.

You might want to look at constant tension clamps rather than the often hard to position spring clamps you are considering.

I ONLY use spring clamps!

i hate a spring clamp.
i replace everyone i put my hands on.
i am not talented enough to post pics but they make a hose/worm drive clamp with an inside liner/shield to protect the clamp from digging into the hose over time but you have to tighten them a few time if used on radiator hose and a few other apps. but that should be a given any clamp on a hose that expands and contracts with temperature or pressure.
make good choices for longevity not ease of quick install.

I get rid of spring clamps, can't stand them.... Hey nice progress on the bus, Glad Roxy is into it as well.


I expect with a shorty the rear heater really is not needed, especially down south. Think I would remove it. On a longer bus it is nice up here to have the rear heater. On a friends bus we ran conduit under the floor for the heater hoses.

Glad you're finally working on that fine shorty! I think relocating the heater closer to the people is a good idea. I thought about it but didn't want to go through the hassle. I figured a little heat under the bed- and near my water tank wouldn't hurt in the winter. I know you might not have that issue in your tropical location. I plan to cut a vent of some sort so heat can circulate from under the bed as my diesel heater's intake will be under there as well.

Since it looks to be in nearly new condition we'd like to keep the heater but maybe find it a better spot.

But yeah most likely it'll just get yanked out.

Absolutely agree!
And if you're really worried follow ABYC marine practice and use two hose clamps on every connection, flip the second clamp so the pull is reversed. The price of a few extra clamps is good insurance.

Contact a large manufacturer and request samples. I did that once, expecting them to send me one of each size. When I received the BOX, I realized our definition of sample differed. I'll never want for hose clamps again Unfortunately the largest are 3/4"

got the panels for the roof patches ospho'd today and took out a bit more of the metal over the forward heater and heater lines.

I've only even actually pulled out one heater about 10 or 15 years ago. lol kinda new to me even with all the demo I've done on buses.

All of the heaters have been removed and will be reinstalled as needed when we get to the buildout stage. In the interim, I'll be installing a coolant heater and a heater coil (& fan) in the interim.

So- paid for the AC unit in middle of December. they sent a tracking number a week or so later but no tracking info ever showed.
Sent em an email and they don't even HAVE the ac unit. They're waiting for them to be manufactured! UGH.

Its seemingly impossible to get a 15k rooftop rv ac unit right now unless a beat up used one for $500. This sucks.

well the government closed everything down for covid like the people want. How do you expect to get anything with everyone at home? I do not mean to be mean please do not take it that way. But fact is a lot of business and manufacturing was closed for a while now they are playing catch up. I waited 3 months for a vent cover. It has taken 9 months to get casting from one of my foundries because they were considered non essentail and closed. Just have to wait patiently my friend, you will get it.

What govt shut anything down where? No other product I've ordered has ever been shown as IN STOCK READY TO SHIP then ya just get ghosted for over a month.

they finally responded today. they have NO idea when they're even going to be manufactured. They're "selling" them like they're in stock still.
so- I put the ball back in their court and asked them what's available that's similar specs to what I ordered that they can send now.

Most states up here and california shut down all businesses considered non essential. Tesla was shut down for a bit even. Pennslyvania actually sent enforcement to each business to make sure they were closed, $5000 fine if caught open. So a lot of people stayed home because no business to run. We(at the railroad) made letters for employees stating they were essential, and only for the ones we had to have.


Must say that is a bummer to have sold what they do not have though. Not good stock management.
