You appear to have used rigid insulation. Sorry, I think this is the first time I've seen pics of your build. I wish I was that far along.

So are we koalas or lizards?

My rear bunks will accommodate for now myself and wife on the bottom and my three small ones in a u shape at the top. Probably only this year and next for them on the top bunk and then we will use them for storage. The bunks have built in storage too for clothes and junk. They hinge open. The front couch and dinette break down to make a giant bed which will be great when the kids outgrow the bunks or extra passengers.
I've noticed that building a skoolie invites a lot of guests with planned trips. Ha

I went ridged foam. Really wanted to do tiger foam but didn't have the money. The ridged was just a shy cheaper. If I had the extra cash I would have done spray but the ridged seems to work well.
Finishing the tongue and groove cedar on ceiling tonight then On to water system. Wooooo

Man am I tired and lots to do the rest of this month. It's been crazy busy but a huge thing happen Friday. We are registered and insured. Wooooo. Even took the bus to get ice cream on Sunday. It is so exciting.

We got our insurance through national general with AIS insurance and they were extremely helpful. They did require it to be fully converted and it's almost there so with some creative photos and a few tries we made it. Here's the contact info for the person from AIS insurance that helped us. She was great.

Also my wife has been putting photos of our journey on a blog if any of you want to take a gander.

Semi done but had fun this summer

Ok so after a whirl wind final finish in june that included a paint job and final touches we took her out on a 4 week trip to wyoming with the fam. It was awesome and my family of 5 had so much fun in Harriet (yes that is what we settled on for a name). I included some pics here is you want to see the end product and some of our adventures.

I still have a few things to do this fall. I need to finish the vinyl floor, propane system and hopefully install a generator this winter to take her out again next summer. This has been one of my best projects I think and I love spending time in the bus. Its awesome. Good luck all on your skoolies. Its worth the time. Let me know if you need help or have questions.

The bus looks great. It's pretty sweet when the project finally comes together. I went through the same back to the wall gotta have it done enough to get on the road deadline in July, now I'm living aboard full time and getting ready for the cold weather.

Looks awesome, how long in your interior from back of drivers seat to the rear? did you make a floorplan or just kinda wing it?

19 feet behind the drivers seat. Perfect in my opinion. It's 27 ft long entirely which makes it great for getting around and not being too long. Yes we sketched stuff out many times and then mapped it out with tape on the floor. I highly recommend this as it help us visualize possible clearance issues.

Really like your build. It's amazing what you can fit into the space. I must have overlooked it, so is the toilet in the street side closet, in front of the bunk bed?
Congrats!

Yes a small composting toilet on passenger side just behind wheel wells. Driver side there is a closet for pantry and storage. Double bed on bottom in back and a u shape bunk on top for children. It's a little tight in sleeping area but works well. You sleep like I imagine they sleep in a sub on the bottom double. Ha

After looking at the build, again, I believe that I figured out your "hints" about the toilet area. VERY SNEEKY of you to put the blue pale in it's place.(ha) I guess I need to review the build again, and look for other hidden jewels.
Nicely done!
