Her name is Texas.

Why? Cuz I said so. I think she is short enough to join this club. I only have one picture of her. Engine is a DT408. Trans is an AT545. GVWR is 23,500. Hydraulic brakes. Two benches. Wheelchair lift. 147k miles. This is the only picture I have.

Paint her white. Do a fast conversion and get motorhome title. Drive the crap out of her. I have been using my Excursion to pick up stuff using a trailer. I won't need a trailer for small stuff with this.

Texas??? I thought everything was BIG in Texas....she looks more like a RHODE ISLAND.

LOL.....just joking, she looks like she will be perfect for weekend getaways and you should be able to take her anywhere.

I love it. She'd be a great Toad in back of our bus.

Too bad they don't come with standard transmissions, I think it would make a nice towed.

I wish it had a manual transmission.

What don't come with standard transmisions? My bus has as 5 speed manual and it's of similar vintage and make.
The only thing I don't like is that it's a dog leg second.

I am going to be running two separate design competitions with each winner winning $25 cash money. I will post details in a separate post for each one. I will give a hint about each one now but can't give specifics until I have the bus in hand.

Competition #1.

Design a rear opening that allows me to open the whole back of the bus without looking too hillbilly. No offense intended towards hillbillies.

Competition #2.

Design the living space of the bus. Obviously I need exact dimensions but maybe this will stimulate brain juices before I post the competition.

Not sure yet. It does 55 mph at 2500 rpm. It's no rocket with my diesel Excursion behind it. It does pretty good when it's not pulling something.

That bus is a beauty! I wish I would have started with this exact bus... well, except for the side wheelchair door. That would have gotten in the way of my plans, but otherwise it's perfect.

When you say open the whole rear of the bus do you mean the full width and height or...?

If you don't need full width or full height, why not use the side lift door in place of the current rear emergency door? Most lift doors are about 30%-50% larger than rear emergency doors. And then just skin over the lift door hole.

As far as manual transmissions are concerned, they have amounted to less than 1% of all bus production over the last 20-years. So they are out there but they are extremely few and far between.
