Re: introduction/my shorty :)
Welcome aboard Karla. You got a good deal, ya can't beat FREE! You'll be surprised once ya get the seats out how much room you have. Give the floors a good look over, you may want to rip them out too, I did mine and I'm VERY glad I did.

Re: introduction/my shorty :)
Congratulations......Once you go bus, you can never go back. Think about storage in whatever you build...living full time you can't have enough storage. You're going to love your new bus..it's a trip building and travelling...good luck and take pictures along the way.

Re: introduction/my shorty :)
Welcome to an other BC bus.
Sadly i cant see your pictures since i'm on a very restricted network, but i'll check them out at home.
I didn't think that your still allowed to shop on the dump anywhere in BC. Up here they stopped allowing that about 10 years ago and they used the line that it is law in BC. I guess its not law everywhere, so enjoy your freedom as long as you still got it and pick me up a bunch of bed frames and one of those fold down seats with seatbelts, will you?

Re: introduction/my shorty :)
The bus sure looks 100% better now, nice work. It looks like fido is happy too.
Re the floors, all I can say is you never know until you peek. I cut away some of my vinyl to inspect the floor and oh man, glad I did as I ended up looking at nasty old wood. So I pulled it all out, coated the floors, and added insulation and then osb board and I'm pretty happy. Either way good luck.

Re: introduction/my shorty :)
I second that. At least have a look at the wood under the rubber floor. Mine was rotten, and when I replaced it the bus smell was totally gone.

Re: introduction/my shorty :)
Now i've seen the pictures too. looks good your little bus, I'm sure it will make a very nice camper.
I would take the floor out and give the metal a quick paintjob (rust paint) before putting new flooring down.

Re: introduction/my shorty :)
Hi Karla and everyone else!
I have this exact same bus. Here is a link to the thread with some info and pics of my 1989 Ford Econoline shortbus -
viewtopic.php?f=36&t=4004
I'm curious, what did you use to paint the outside? I mean, what kind of sprayer and what kind of paint? It looks very good.
I am about to start the serious conversion work in our bus, but it's still in the early stages at the moment - not too different than your bus when you first took out the seats.
Best regards,
MikeG

Re: introduction/my shorty :)
Came into the thread pretty late. Glad to see you've got the bus into a great livable shape!
Just FYI to a question you asked in the beginning... yeah, there's at least one other woman on the forum.
Good luck in your new adventures in bus living! Keep us posted.

Re: introduction/my shorty :)
Yea I agree... had a yard sale to day & the hot topic was Buster & yet again... "Cool bus...What kinda mileage you get with that thing, 5-6 mpg??"
I said yea, whatever, your SUV gets 12 mpg - not much better than Buster & you could park your SUV inside of it!
Oh, & the other common comment was "You need to paint that bus almond color! That would look so good!" Are you kidding me?? I like the blue & that is the last thing I want to do.... look like the sterotypical RV'er... I AM A SKOOLIE DAMMIT! (ok, a citie)

Sorry to hear that your dog is gone. Its tough, I've lost a lot over the years. They get old so damn fast!
I hope you get another Skoolie.
