Definitely thankful for friends with machine shops. Bartered some work on a friends truck for him to install my generator and properly, insulate it, and make sure it has enough airflow to keep it cool. I dropped it off recently with a generator just sitting in the bus and this is what he has done. Everything has been custom made. Can't wait to see the final result here soon

Well hopefully it works as good as it looks, I'm real curious to see how loud it is. He says it's gonna be similar to the sound of the engines on an offshore boat. So hopefully it'll all work well

I'm assuming you put the geny inside because you don't have room under your bus? I never really considered doing that, but I like to keep as much inside the bus as possible. Unless I find a good deal on a very expensive pancake geny, I'm going to have to do like you've done.
I'm curious about your thinking on placement of the generator. That's the furthest away from the bedroom area? That are is close to the fuel tank? Just wondering because I try to keep weight low and to the rear of my FE bus. I like the idea of the geny inside on the floor. That's got to be near the same center of gravity as hanging it from the underfloor.

Well the generator is definitly way too big for just the bus, my reasoning behind it is because I pull my camper with the bus and that is a total of three air units. it's a 10,000 kW Kubota diesel. When I use Just the bus I have a Honda 2000 W inverter that does just fine, I'm hoping everything works out fine with mounting the generator inside and Assuming the only time the generator will be running is when we will be in the camper and not the bus, the generator is tapped into the busses 57 gallon fuel tank. The insulation I am using is the same insulation that is used in a big container ships in the engine rooms, it will total about 6-8 inches of insulation plus a spray foamed box around it

I don't think you're going to hear it much. I like your choice though.

I'm looking for about a 6k diesel geny. Boxing it in underneath would be ideal if it's a very flat generator setup.

Good work on that. It makes me consider similar generators.

Got the generator all set up and ready to go, first time pulling the camper out of town tommorow, we'll see how it goes on its first long trip towing.

The inside of the bus itself (excluding the driver/door area) is 8x13 if I remember correctly
