Looking for a short bus

Hello my name is Lacey and I am new to this forum!

I'm looking for a short bus that I will live in full time and also probably put quite a few miles on with traveling.

I am hoping to get some serious advice about buses that may be more reliable or suitable for my use.

I'm hoping to spend less than 5000 on the shell. If you see any good deals in Virginia please let me know!

Look for auctions in your area, there may be school districts or local transit authorities who are selling them cheap. Mine came from an auction, although via a 2nd party, and the one good thing about them, while they may have high mileage, they are usually well maintained. Craigslist is where I found mine, and eBay has auto auctions and you might be able to find one available within say 100 mile radius, which would allow you to go see it before committing to a bid. Good luck and welcome to the forums

Re: Looking for a short bus

I'm in the exact same boat...uh, bus... Looking for a full time live in, except I'm on the other side of DC... Maryland. Planning on getting one, converting quickly, and driving to Arizona this November. But I hope to be living in it before then. My family and friends just don't understand... and I don't care to explain. Heheh. But, I didn't explain why I just up and moved across the country when I moved to san diego, and I didn't explain it to them when I up and moved back to the east coast 4 years later...

There seem to be a number of them around, but I'm very cautious about rust, and probably moreso about any that were previously owned by any big city transit authority. If you've spent any time in DC, Baltimore, or Philadelphia, you'd understand why.

Good luck with your venture!

Lacey119, Unless you have the ability and resources and the drive and desire to do it all yourself, maybe you should try to find something that is already done close to what you want. You might save time ,money and headaches. Otherwise find the newest thing you can afford and take an expert along. 5000 should buy a pretty tight machine. Old classics are neat but you have to LOVE them to justify the expense and work of it all. There are exceptions sure, but be careful and shop around. Good luck!
