My new project

Okay, it's not a bus but it runs, it moves and it got here by itself--well Rob brought it over.

This is a 1974 Fleury body on a GM chassis, needs a tune-up, a motor mount and some plumbing.

We went to fill the water tank yesterday and had water water everywhere when one of the pipes started to leak.

We think Rob didn't drain it properly and it froze and cracked! So he and Paul will fix it soon.

Everything else seems to be working. Just no running water for the moment.

Oh and we have to replace the fan and vent lid in the bathroom.

It was originally built to sleep six but Rob took one bunk out, the one over the table, so there is more room and more light at the back end.

She doesn't have a name yet, but I will think of one, probably "The Dorm" because she will be housing my various helpers, wwoofers, friends and family members.

Today I will be in there scrubbing as she's sat for 6 years and only got cleaned once

I have to get a bar fridge for her as I'm using the bar fridge that was in her--my fridge died

So she may not be a bus, but after Rob tunes her up and gets the registration sorted out (lost the papers) I can use her. HURRAY.

So I will finally be mobile!!!

I love my bus and want another one that runs, but the old Fleury will do for now.

CHEERS
Lois

Re: My new project

Many thanks to Accordion for posting the picture.

The Fleury is almost done now, we did a bit of everything from wiring to plumbing, got curtains and cushions, new insulation and ceiling panels--and then it started to rain and we discovered that where there used to be a roof rack, there are some holes that will have to be sealed.

So every so often, if it's raining and we're eating supper out there, the ceiling lets go a dribble of water (insulation is up) So we have to fix it soon because the insulation panels will get moldy!

But everything works properly now, including the toilet, which someone had taken apart at some point and put it back together wrong, it worked before, but stunk!

After Rob cleaned the carpet and Rick scrubbed the floor, no more stale smell either.

So now it is a pleasant little mini dorm that everyone who uses it really likes.

One of my friends says it's better than the room she rents in Vancouver!

Cheers, Lois

Re: My new project

The Dorm got a new interior water pump today. The old pump got left on and when the tank ran dry, the pump burned out.

We had water water everywhere again as a hose clamp on last summers repair job broke, but there is now running water in the Dorm again.

Good thing too because I'm expecting company.

Speaking of water, I've added to the collection of transportation vehicles around here, a "friend" of mine abandoned his 24 ft sailboat and I paid up the moorage and claimed her before the marina could.

Good thing I have an acre to park all these things on, but I think my neighbours may be beginning to wonder about my taste in "lawn ornaments"

Cheers
