Finished the seat base so we could go in the parade on the 4th. One 7 footer on the lift side and a 12 footer behind the driver. Found some football grain upholstery I may use to cover them in.

Stereo is complete, seats are painted and put back together. Now just waiting on the cushions to get finished. Think we will take it out tonight for a preseason game, work out some kinks. Got some big batteries to hook up to an inverter next week.

Re: My new tailgater

jimmyaustintx where do you have your batteries stored on your bus? What inverter do you use? I'm looking at a pure sine wave inverter/charger so I could use a generator as a backup if needed.

Got the seats covered, power inverter should be here on Monday. Should have the flat screen ready for the next home game.

The rest of my crew wants me to 86 the chair lift. I thought it would come in handy for kegs and such, but now I'm not so sure I don't want the space it takes up for some other use.

Re: My new tailgater

Jimmy no issue with the fumes from the battery? I was thinking about putting the batteries under the seats and the inverter would be mounted outside of the inclosure that the batteries are in. I was just worried about gases coming off of the batteries.

Re: My new tailgater

Got the power inverter hooked up this weekend. I hope this will give 4 or 5 hours of power to the flat screen.

Re: My new tailgater

Power worked well last weekend. We had a 32 inch flat screen and a satellite box running for 8 hours with 50% reserve left when we shut everything down. I'm more than happy with those results. Now if I could just remember to bring my camera I could post some pictures.

Re: My new tailgater

Not sure what you mean Smitty. Black clamps with silver wire are connected to both of the negative posts, red clamps with blue wire are both connected to the positive posts. Then blue wire out to the positive post and silver wire out to the negative post on the inverter. Maybe the frame of the bench seats obstructs the view.

OK I see what you mean. one battery has the positive out post and the other has the negative out post. None of the diagrams I had looked at are shown like that.

Re: My new tailgater

Mind if I ask where you got the foam for your bench seats? I'm most likely going to end up making similar style bench-seating and I've been looking around for something thick and relatively cheap to use.

Re: My new tailgater

Sorry as I have not been logged on in a while. I can't find the info on where I bought the supplies for the seats, but I was looking for a specific football grain vinyl and bought the foam from them too. You can do pretty good for foam (the store near me had basketball grain in stock but football was not available for some reason) at a Jo-Ann fabrics while using their 50% off coupons. Hope this helps.

Christmas present came early, just in time for the 12/26 vikings game. If you get one tell them sec234 sent you.

Re: My new tailgater

Sorry but I bought the bus with the paint already done. It looks better in pictures then up close. I bought it from a guy who owns a body shop. Looks like he just scuffed up the yellow, taped it and sprayed it. The paint job is two years old and rustr is starting to bubble under the paint in spots. If you can find the color you want in a heavy equipment paint I would use that. Hope this helps. Think McNabb will be back after this year?

Re: My new tailgater

But we do have a NFL championship beating the coach that the Super Bowl trophy is named after. Get that bus done by the playoffs, come on up and I'll save you spot next to me in our parking lot.
