How has the race season been treating you thus far? I have yet to make it out to the track because I've been so busy with work, converting the bus, etc. About all I've done is watch a $5500 Power Plus super stock motor do some home improvement (read:adding new windows) to the block after 9 laps

This season has started out a bit slower than I wanted, but I am used to having trouble at first and having to come back all season.

No worse than blowing a brand new EXPENSIVE engine on hot laps Besides...who wants to be the points leader and try and defend it all season? I'd rather be the a$$hole that keeps sneaking within a few points each week.

Sunday night, on the way home from the track, I smelled rubber burning and then the bus overheated. Luckily I was a few miles from the garage so I drove it there and parked it. The steam was whisling out like a tea kettle and then I heard a pop. When we did triage the next day in the light we found that the serpentine belt had split and came off and the tension pulley bearings were the cause. The pressure blew the upper hose as well. $20 for a pulley, $15 for an upper hose and about $15 for two gallons of antifreeze and we're back in business. I still have a check engine light that comes on once in a while, but I believe that's a sensor or the oil pressure sending unit causing it. Now I just need to finish up the paint this weekend and think of a name for the thing. I've added a few pictures to the gallery lately.

I bought a 700 plus watt inverter, now I need to pick up the isolator and another battery. I have a lot of things in the works for the interior soon (carpet, table for my booth, etc...). We have a short trip with friends on the 24th and I want to take both families in the bus. I still need a good name for it too...

I'm not sure what day Ashland races. The other option is to convince him to build a Hibbing legal Pure Stock and run there. Heck...Skeeter Estey did ok for himself in Proctor with a Hibbing Pure Stock and that meant giving up 45 cubic inches and a locked rear end

I picked up a used table top at the local camper sales place and a recessed post mount for the floor. My friend had a table pole and mount in his garage rafters so I'm set for the table. I just need to figure out how I am going to mount it to the wall. I was planning to hinge it at the wall to fold it down, but how do I secure it so it won't bang around?

The hinge into a post winds up being somewhat problematic- it's coming down in an arc, and the post wants a straight-line drop. It's do-able, but the fit is funky and can jam.
If you make an L-shaped lip on on the wall, and it's mate on the table, it should come apart and store easily. A similar setup up top with twist latches holds it in place. Here's an example of this in my last boat:

Re: My short bus
Yeah, it was cool running into another Skoolie. I've never had anyone ask me if my bus was on skoolie.net before so I was kind of taken by surprise. I posted on your thread before I noticed this one so it's a bit of a repeat. Thanks for the kind words and sorry for the mess inside. The bus has been working hard for me over the past three months and I've been trying to get all my projects done on it that I've put off for the past 5 years. I'm getting closer to doing more on the inside after I finish the paint on the roof. I'll post updated pictures soon.
