10 on highway with carb problem isnt bad. id think it should get better then that. depends on load and wind.

check it over good though. maybe even take it to a garage and give the guy 20 bucks to give it a good look over and point out what he thinks is good/bad.

true that but also sometimes its not financial piratical and is why they are doing that. like a rebuild or new car etc. takes away their profit lol

Re: Need some opinions on a short bus for sale

If the issue is it's popping back thru the carb--then its not a carb issue-its a worn out camshaft issue-as alot of chevy were known for of that era.
10 mpg aint bad at all.If my former 87 GMC cube van-ever got that much-i'd be doing backflips!

A 1987 should have fuel injection (first year for TBI). 1984 will have a Q-jet. 10MPG for one of those with a good-running 350, 4.10 gears (typical), and no OD is pretty much on the mark.

Re: Need some opinions on a short bus for sale

Liz works for a towing company...they have a 1987 GMC C-35 powered by a TBI 454. 1987 was the first year for TBI, though the bigger trucks (like motorhomes & Stepvans) got carb'd 454's until 1990.

A carb'd truck 350 will do fine with a mild cam. I'd bet a 1984 HD van will have a non-computerized carb.
