We were at 6800 lbs when weighed after most of the interior and electric was installed. I'm a little concerned about adding weight up high but we shouldnt be carrying much up there. Camp chairs, tarps, etc. If we put 20 gal of water storage up there that that'll be an extra 200lbs. The rack is almost as long as the whole roof.

Sanded, wipe down, and painted International Harvester red. Tomorrow I will cut the legs down and make the brackets to attach it to the roof. Maybe Sunday we will mount it

Neat action shot. Notice the face shield. $13 at harbor frieght. Head band broke after a month but still fits well enough. Now if i just had gloves on...

High of 82 today + 40 mile drive to mother in laws. Lets see if 5000 btu's can keep us cool driving.
We will build a better hold down for the generator and a fake dog house to cover it. That way when we Dismount it from the rack at the campgrounds and move it away from the bus we will put the dog house over it to help Shield the noise

Legs are trimmed. Now to use the angle iron that came with it to make the brackets to mount it to the roof.

what is the white box by your tail light? looks maybe trailer light plug?, and also what king of generator is that?, and how well does it work?

The white box houses the outlet that the generator plugs into. We have a 25' extension cord so we can dismount the generator when we camp. The generator is a 2kw one from sam's club. Works great with the walmart ac.

The outlet in the white box goes only to a 2 gang outlet box inside. Basically an extension cord for the generator but passes for 110 power to get our motor home qualification

hint: when you do it, remember to install the wierd mesh screen on the evaporator if it has it... it isnt a filter, but when the blower speed is on high it keeps the evaporator from slinging water into the heater duct and dripping on the floor...
and replace the blower motor while everything is apart..

Well that was a whole lot easier than I thought it was going to be. I'm headed to the junkyard Saturday morning to get my replacement evaporator, condenser, hoses compressor, and brackets.

Got it all apart last night. My hydroboost brake system apparently used a different style ac compressor bracket than the vacuum booster system I got the brackets from. I'm going to be making some modifications.

what year is your van? there were 2 different compressors used on those depending on engine and packages..
the R-4 compressor (the little pancake one).. (the awful compressor). was used in most of the 80s.. but some of the early 80s stuff still got the good A-6 (frigidaire.. long skinny compressor)..
your best bet is to get a Sanden bracket for a 350 and put a Sanden 508 in there.
the hydroboost if I remember used a different power steering pump .. the standard 350 configuration has the A/C on the driver side but somehow I seem to remember the hydroboost had it on the passenger side.. I know the later modell 350s had moved it to the passenger side. but I Believe that happened only after they went SERP .
